  • CIA 'Torture'

If this stuff is torture I can think of many times where I've been "tortured" in life... There's a big difference between torture and discomfort. Grabbing someone by the collar? Hell, I think my football and basketball coaches in HS could be convicted. Liquid diets? Really? Sure, they may suck but that isn't torture. If it is then I think school lunches should be torture. Some of that stuff was scary bad. Prolonged standing? We were put through worse in HS practices. Most of the stuff listed makes me laugh. I wonder if raising your voice is torture? It looks like it's headed that way.

    Torture is MSNBC.

What we did was in the best interest of the US of A.

President Bush and ALL that were involved should sleep soundly each and every night knowing they did everything they could to prevent another attack on our own soil (and countless other lives saved around the world).

This was an easy decision, period.

Those "enemy combatants" should thank 13+ virgins I wasn't in charge of "gathering".

I'm about ready to pull the plug on Spain while I am at it.

Too bad the US government doesn't use more 'creative' types of torture. For instance, playing Rosanne Barr 2 weeks non-stop singing the US national anthem under a strobe light disco ball would be interesting.

Sorry, I will count that my random thought of the year. I am just glad tax season is over.
Spoiler Alert: Bruce Willis was dead the whole time!

          Man that is outstanding.

How about just putting them in a cell with no bars but just bug eyed Nancy Pelosi wall paper everywhere?

          Nancy Pelosi

An irrational, bug-eyed liberal congresswoman whose IQ rivals that of the mildly retarded. Pelosi is frequently seen on TV jabbering non-sensically with a dazed expression on her face.

Nancy Pelosi has the intellectual capacity of a potted plant.
          retarded democrat liberal moonbat mushwimp.

The first woman speaker of the house - this is unfortunate for women everywhere as she is a Baltimore mafia-princess turned poser-socialist whose 'historic congress' has an 11% approval rating. nancy is a puppet of george soros funded groups such as moonbat.org as well as a political whore for the islamo-nazis. Nancy Pelosi is the definition of a useful idiot; she has had so many face-lifts you could bounce a quarter off her cheeks.

Wow, you guys, just wow. I respect your basketball knowledge quite a bit but my opinion is that you're way off base here.

Being forced to stand for several hours is one thing, being forced to stand in the exact same position for the same amount of time is entirely another.

Being yelled at or listening to loud music for a little while is one thing, being subjected to it for hours on end is entirely another.

Spending several hours in the dark is one thing, spending several days in the dark is entirely another.

Being fed a bland, liquid diet is one thing. I've had dental surgery, I know it sucks. Being fed a bland, liquid diet consisting of just barely enough food to keep you alive is another thing.

Having your hands tied behind your back is one thing (maybe even a fun thing), but "Palestinian crucifixion" is another. If you don't know what that is, google Manadel al-Jamadi.

Let's suppose your coaches actually did make you do something even approaching any of these techniques. It still wouldn't have the same psychological effect because you know you get to go home at the end of the day. And when you go home, you know you get to sleep (maybe not too long, but uninterrupted sleep nonetheless).

While some of these practices might seem tolerable in isolation, together they would make for extreme and inhumane treatment--which was precisely the point. It's called psychological torture. There is a difference between discomfort and torture. What was happening to these people went way beyond discomfort.

Whether or not any of these techniques were beneficial to the USA is debatable, but I tend to think they're more likely to foster anti-Americanism, and therefore encourage new terrorists to emerge, than they are to have produced any actual, useful information. I know if I were being tortured I would tell them anything they wanted to hear--even that I like Creighton. *shudder*

What ever happened to the Golden Rule? What about Matthew 5:44? Ok...so maybe that doesn't apply to people that want to destroy us completely, but does it apply to people that don't, like the Uyghurs that were detained for years before being released as "No Longer Enemy Combatants?"

The best thing America can do for world security is to lead by example.

LOL at Rosanne singing the Anthem.

I'd take it over some of the stuff I had to do.

Does it cause long term physical or psychological problems? Most of this stuff doesn't. A few might be debated. Most of what they list as "torture" is BS.

I'll let the intelligence-gathering professionals decide what is best for our nation's security. If they feel the only way to get information that saves lives is to be mean to someone for a temporary amount of time, without causing permanent physical trauma, so be it. Life is not guaranteed sacks of rainbows for everyone all the time. Especially if you are affiliated with known terrorists.
