Some days more than others. :-)

On a side note, seeing all the chaos in this thread, and knowing that I had no part in creating any of it, makes me feel expendable. :-(

I wouldn't call it backlash, I would call it debate. This is how problems are solved. The African-American Southern Baptists felt aggrieved because the larger church refused to take a stand. There was discussion and a solution.

Too bad our congress-critters can't act like that.

Albert Mohler of the Southern Baptist has been pretty clear on Racial Superiority

            The Heresy of Racial Superiority

I would argue that racial superiority in any form, and white superiority as the central issue of our concern, is a heresy. The separation of human beings into ranks of superiority by skin color is a direct assault upon the doctrine of Creation and insult the image Dei - the image of God in which every human being is made. Racial superiority is also directly subversive of the Gospel of Christ, effectively reducing the power of his substitutionary atonement and undermining the faithful preaching of the gospel to all persons and to all nations. --- Albert Mohler albertmohler.com

Just so I understand you, are you talking about "backlash" from actions taken earlier in their conference, a mere couple of days prior? Or are you talking about something that happened weeks/months/years ago?

Returning to the shooter for a moment, nothing I've seen or heard makes me think this guy was by any definition crazy, unless you deem the act only doable by a crazy person.

This guy spoke almost daily with the Mayor at the Y next to the field. The Mayor thought he was fine, perhaps homeless, but fine. At least that's what he said in an interview I watched. I have some questions about him though. Did he relocate to DC (in his van) while he had family still in Illinois? If so, did they contact anyone, and if not, did they help him plan? I'm asking, I don't know.

I think he was trying to find work as a motivational speaker.

I once watched a guy break into my car and drive away. Luckily, my phone was in the car. I called it and he answered. Said he was dying of pellegra and he wanted to see his mother one last time. I was so touched by his honesty, that I told him to keep the car and to take his mom out for dinner using the credit card in the glove compartment. He took her to Five Guys but only ordered the small cheeseburger which they split. He returned my car, washed and waxed, and thanked me and then died in my driveway. A little kindness goes a long way!
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

"The media or social media almost every day posts threats against Trump or other Republicans.
Sarah Silverman calls for a military coup, Madonna thought about blowing up the White House, Snoop Dogg video assassinating a clown that looks like Trump, Kathy Griffins beheading, DeNiro, I'd like to punch him in the face , Joss Whedon I want a rhino to f*ck Paul Ryan to death, Mickey Rourke "I want to beat Trump with a baseball bat", Lea DeLaria threaten to "take out Republicans", Congressman John Lewis giving a commencement speech urged graduates "to get in the way and get in trouble", Keith Olbermann urged foreign intelligence agencies to target Trump, India Knight New York Times tweeted "the assassination is taking such a long time" The list can go on, it's almost daily.…
Constant protests and threats made against anyone who dares to expound differing views on campuses. Protesters showing up just to disrupt Townhall meetings of Republican Congressman. More arrests for threats and violence have been in the last 6 months than the previous 10 years total.
What’s different about the few random threats made in the past vs today is usually they were made by lone wolves or individuals with no credibility. Their actions were soundly criticized and shut down from all fronts. Today these individuals who are inciting violence are “credible” leaders, in their circles. They have followers and their actions and statements are covered respectfully by the media..
If you tell people often enough that Trump stole the election, that he is another Hitler, and Republicans are his henchmen out to destroy America you are encouraging the unhinged to become violent."---------Dave Syverson
