I have seen some states just let the controlling party name a replacement. But these two were just re-elected.

Is Alan Cobb the former 'ABC' that used to post on Shockernet? I've seen him on 'TOB' occasionally, but I believe the anti-Sexton crew ran him away from here.

Just to add a couple of things to this post:


Alan Cobb would be a fantastic representative for the 4th District of Kansas. I hope he makes an official announcement soon so that those of us that want to support a solid conservative, someone that's lived a plurality of his life in Wichita and is a graduate of Wichita State, can begin to do just that.

Conservative, brilliant and a forceful leader, he'll lead in Washington and be a excellent representative of our district.

I am not speaking for Alan, but I think there were just some nonsensical exchanges here that bored him after awhile. It happens to the best of us. One certainly cannot question his loyalty to WSU or his support, in particular, of men's basketball. It is most certainly unwavering.

That's a lot of Republican candidates with a track record of reducing taxes for their campaign donors at the risk of bankrupting the economy of the government they're overseeing.

Conservative ideology at the State level seems to be to shift the tax burden from wealthier taxpayers to less wealthy tax payers. At the National level, conservative policy seems to be to shift the tax burden away from wealthier taxpayers by increasing the deficit.

I'm confident there are many here who will want to inform me that they disagree with my viewpoint. We all see things differently based on an incredible number of differing experiences and ideologies. If we ever all agree, we're screwed.

If Trump and a Republican Congress carry out Trump's economic policies, there could be a major backlash in 2018.

One of the problems with trickle down is that it tends to be a "rich get richer and the poor get poorer" formula. At some point the poor, who outnumber the wealthy, will actually vote. They will vote for a Socialistic form of government.

The conservative branch of the Republican party should take some advice from my departed Uncle Les, who probably bought and sold every horse in central Kansas at least twice between the late '40's and early '90's. "Never screw anybody too bad. You may want to do it again".

There's a lot of good politicians on that Republican list. It's been said that a good politician is one who, once they are bought, stays bought.

@Aargh:, yes I disagree with you and I will stick with the premise that the"rich get richer and the poor get poorer". A Pew study from late last year showed that there are many more poor and lower middle class than existed in 1970. Basically, those people below the median income has grown dramatically, and those above the median income have far more money now than they did in 1970. This would support your statement, however there is another study that came out this summer which has a far more realistic take. In this study they used inflation based income to determine how the various income groups are doing now vs 1979. As it turns out, every single group is doing better now than they were in 1979...there are more ultra rich, more rich, more upper middle class. There are fewer lower class, lower middle class, and poor, and EVERYONE has a higher standard of living than they did in 1979. Only the super poor make less income, but that's okay, because with gov assistance, they are doing far better now than they were in 1979. Basically, everybody is getting richer (as a percentage of the population), not just the rich. This is a good thing, the best thing!

In a more pragmatic view, I think that all politicians (dems and republican) favor different groups with wealth. The GOP favors military and large business with the idea that by doing so they are creating stability and jobs, which is good for everyone. The Democrats favor universities and clean energy which creates knowledge and a better environment, which is good for everybody. Certainly execution of these goals can be seriously flawed, but neither ideology is inherently bad.

The CEOs of Fortune 500 companies are overwhelming liberal Democrats. The left has control over most institutions in this country.

The idea that Big Business or the Military Industrial Complex favors Republicans (outside of Republicans in name only) is not born out in reality.
