Those mailers are specifically designed for the low information voter who couldn't care less about "reason" and "thinking".

Just look at the cognitive dissonance that the DNC is pedaling this week.

I am tired of getting 2-4 PAC flyers everyday in the mail, though. At least I recycle.
According to this Fort Hays State poll Trump is way up in Kansas (not necessarily a surprise). However, it also contains information on Brownback's performance showing the following (Page 5):
        Very Satisfied 4%
        Somewhat Satisfied 11%
        Neutral 9%
        Somewhat Dissatisfied 17%
        Very Dissatisfied 60%

Doesn't look like Brownback's coattails extend very far. In fact, the smart thing to do would be to separate from him as much as possible.

Just goes to show the power of media narrative in Kansas.

Media narrative? You mean the mean media that actually reported the transfer of $1 billion dollars from KDOT? Or the evil media that reported the ongoing and repeated credit downgrades? Did the media just make up the story about doubling the indebtedness of the State since 2012?

The media also reports the low unemployment numbers. Couple that with the reports of income taxes coming in lower than projected after the projections have been lowered repeatedly. The media hasn't mentioned that either we're losing population like crazy or those working are working for less money than was expected. Otherwise, you'd expect reduced unemployment to result in higher income tax collections.

Is delaying 25 major highway projects somehow the fault of the media? Or maybe you want the media to ignore all those facts and just report the record number of new business filings - as probably 140,000 former self-employed, partnerships, investors, etc formed LLC's to avoid paying state income taxes.

            • So the tax revenue reports are due today. What's the shortfall going to be this time? How can the tax projector continue to keep their job?

              • According to the Hays Daily News, only Illinois, Kentucky and New Jersey have worse credit ratings than Kansas.

They only missed the mark by $13 million this month.

As President Reagan would say, "Here we go again."
What a way to begin the new fiscal year.

Topeka ? The state of Kansas started off the new fiscal year in July with a $12.8 million shortfall in tax collections, the Kansas Department of Revenue said Monday. The shortfall was fueled by slower-than-expected growth in retail sales taxes, which came in $10.

                    • Looks like the voters sent Brownback a message on Tuesday. It will be interesting to see if he finally admits to his mistakes and makes some changes.

Because Brownback wants projections that make it look like things will be okay if we just stay with the status quo instead of realistic ones that show that the status quo isn't working.

It also looks like they sent one to Tim Huelskamp, as he was defeated in the primary as well. Backing a bomb-thrower like Ted Cruz has its consequences.

The WSJ has an brief editorial in today's edition pointing that out, and I thought it was well written.

You need to pump the brakes on your hatred for Cruz. As is the case so often, you're off base. Cruz won Kansas, in a landslide. These were rural voters furious with Huelskamp not being on the Ag Committee and a stupidly thought out campaign strategy. Had nothing to do with backing Cruz.

You really need to find something else to do.

He could go back to bashing Evan Wessel.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I heard Evan was gonna give up his salary, so his boss could hire someone with a little less than half his desire to do everything in his power to be successful.
