Lol you crack me up, Khan. Maybe a look into what is running this country might be a good idea. I would start with Frank Marshall Davis, and then look into Valerie Jarrett's background as well.People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do. -Isaac Asimov

Not that I want to take your letter apart bit by bit and embarrass you, but one part I actually am sympathetic to the idea of making all voters have an ID. It's just that to pass constitutional muster, it must be free for those too poor to pay and the process needs to facilitate and account for those who have health or age issues that prevent them from driving (i.e. it should be by mail). Some of our driver's license offices in Texas (west Texas to be exact) can be hundreds of miles apart. There was a documented case where an old person (roughly an octogenarian) needed to drive 150 miles one way to get to one of the offices. That's a 300 mile round trip for someone who doesn't have a driver's license. That and the requirement for a payment were why the law was struck down in Texas. Here's the reference: http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/30/politi...law/index.html
Charging for an ID to be used in voting has already been found by appellate courts to be a form of poll tax. Poll taxes were ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court 60 years or so ago. It's pretty clear to me that you support a poll tax, otherwise you wouldn't have made the analogy to the cost of an Iphone and the cost of a driver's license.
So now that I have qualified at least one of your comments as lacking research or information, give me one good reason why I would believe any other part of your letter, let alone your comment about Valerie Jarrett and Frank Marshall Davis. When I see the MSM start getting involved, I promise I'll take a look. If it's from some JBS lite webpage, I don't want to see it.

Starting January 1, 2012, Kansas voters must show photographic identification when casting a vote in person. If the photo ID has an expiration date on it, the ID must not have expired at the time of voting. An acceptable photo ID does not have to have an expiration date on the document in order to be valid. Persons age 65 or older may use expired photo ID documents. Acceptable forms of photo ID are:
- A driver's license or nondriver's identification card issued by Kansas or by another state or district of the United States
- A concealed carry of handgun license issued by Kansas or a concealed carry of handgun or weapon license issued by another state or district of the United States
- A United States passport
- An employee badge or identification document issued by a municipal, county, state, or federal government office
- A military identification document issued by the United States
- A student identification card issued by an accredited postsecondary institution of education in the state of Kansas
- A public assistance identification card issued by a municipal, county, state or federal government office
- An identification card issued by an Indian tribe
Exemptions from the Photographic Identification Requirement
Persons age 65 or older may use expired photo ID documents.
The photo ID requirements do not apply to military and overseas citizens who vote under the federal Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA).
The photo ID requirements do not apply in mail ballot elections. Mail ballot elections are limited to local jurisdictions holding special question-submitted elections.
The photo ID requirements do not apply to voters who qualify, apply and are accepted to the permanent advance voting list, as long as they remain on the permanent advance voting list.
Any person whose religious beliefs prohibit photographic identification may be exempted from the photo ID requirement. Any such person must complete and sign a Form DRO (Español) (Declaration of Religious Objection).
... and also includes this ...
Free Photographic Identification
A registered voter who does not possess any of the approved government-issued photographic identification documents and who wishes to vote may apply for a free nondriver identification card through the Division of Vehicles, Kansas Department of Revenue.
In order to obtain a nondriver identification card, a person must present acceptable proof of identity and proof of residence to the Division of Vehicles.
In order to obtain a fee waiver for a nondriver identification card, the person must also sign a form containing an affidavit stating, among other things, that he or she:
- is registered to vote in Kansas, and
- does not possess a photographic identification document that is valid for voting purposes, and
- has provided evidence of current Kansas voting registration status. Examples of such evidence of registration status include a voter registration card (original or photocopy) or a printout from Kansas VoterView.
The Form DE-VID1 (Español), entitled Certification Requesting Fee Waiver for Nondriver Identification Card, is provided by the Division of Vehicles at all driver's license offices, at all county election offices and on the Secretary of State's website.
Free Kansas Birth Certificate in Order to Obtain Free Photographic Identification
In order to obtain a nondriver identification card, a person must present acceptable proof of identity and proof of residence to the Division of Vehicles, Kansas Department of Revenue. Qualifying individuals who lack proof of identity and desire to obtain a free nondriver identification card may obtain a Kansas birth certificate from the Kansas Office of Vital Statistics at no cost to the individual.
To qualify, such person must:
- not possess any valid photographic identification documents under Kansas law,
- lack any of the documents necessary to prove identity,
- sign an affidavit attesting to items 1 and 2,
- be registered to vote in Kansas, and
- have been born in Kansas.

ROFLMAO @ you, Kung, didn't you even bother to read his link? Here's what the individual in the link had to say about voter ID (note the 'you' he is referring to is Brownback):
"I also would like to know why you are such a racist and support voter identification laws. Don’t you realize how difficult it is to get a drivers license? It costs a whole 26 dollars. How on earth can people afford their monthly iPhone bills if they must spend $26 every six years? That is certainly not worth the trouble just to prove that you are a valid citizen and eligible voter. Do you actually think that people would be dishonest about that?"
And yes, Kung, I would agree that offering free identification will keep them from getting tanked on the poll tax. It's just that the author of this letter, who shock apparently agrees with (or is the author) seems to think that the idea of charging for ID's is OK, which I believe you know by your cites here that it is not.
No poll tax, no unconstitutionality. Although I'm not too warm and fuzzy about voter ID, I am sympathetic to it being passed and implemented in a constitutional manner, as the legislatures in states (looks like Georgia and now Kansas) passed these bills and their governors signed them. These laws reflect the will of the people who elected the legislature and the governor. That's what happens in a democracy.
Please read the link and make sure your comments are within the context of the thread, instead of jumping to conclusions and making it look like you don't know what you're talking about.

Nice attempt at spinning, but it's obvious you didn't read the link prior to your posts. I don't see one reference or quote from the letter in your original posts. Referencing the original letter or quotes from it would make sense. Not quoting from it originally then later claiming you had read it doesn't. If something doesn't make sense, it's probably not true.
The reason I quoted the Texas decision is that is an example of how voter ID laws which require payment of fees are unconstitutional. The obvious fact that the writer of the letter is referencing the driver's license fees indicates his support of a provision which would make the law unconstitutional.
Give it up before you embarrass yourself more.Last edited by shocka khan; March 8, 2015, 06:56 PM.

LMAO Khan, I didn't write that letter, but i was introduced to Brandon after he wrote it and I shook his hand. But please, carry on with your personal vendetta. I don't have TV and don't watch Fox, CNN, MSNBC, or anything else, so your posts facilitate zoo watching cravings I get.People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do. -Isaac Asimov
