In Kansas remember the first .42 of every gallon you buy goes to the government. I think it's just over .18 federal and the rest is state.

That's 6.30 or thereabouts every time you fill up with a 15 gallon tank.

At 1.71 that's about a 33% tax on fuel. Of course, gas, and the crude before it, is taxed several times before it reaches your tank.

I noticed that Wichita gas prices went up about 10-15 cents. What's the deal on that?

And states like Maryland, Virginia, and California taxing more.

I think we could eliminate Tax increases and revenue shortfalls, plus increase local buying, by administering the sales tax on all items shipped to any location. Amazon has agreed to not fight with states who simplify their sales tax code (something all states should be working on doing). $152 million a year and climbing in lost Tax revenue for Connecticut alone.

The spread is close to or higher than at any time in the last 20 years. It's the shale oil that caused the difference, according to the article.

In other news - small business' (like mine) saw a large drop in fuel and freight cost resulting in an increase in 4th quarter earnings.

As I have so frequently said on these forums, the "Texas Miracle" (or "Texas Model") as Perry now calls it was built on oil.

Now that oil's going to H3ll, we will see that Perry and the rest of his bunch are like the wizard in 'The Wizard of Oz'. Lots of sound and fury, but in reality, just a bunch of sock puppets who were blessed by an abundance of oil.

I went to Salina a few times in the past week, and every time gas in Salina was about $0.05 to $0.08 lower than ICT. Does anyone know why that would be?

There are many markets with loyalty programs so I have a hard time buying that argument. My guess is that it is due to the very high market penetration of Dillons and QT. They probably inflate their prices in this market due to it being non- competitive.
