Saudi is putting a huge squeeze on Russia. As long as the reduction in oil prices is due only to the output of SA and not speculation of a global slow down then yes, it's not a big deal. However, shale oil in the US is about to bust if prices continue to fall or stay where they are at right now. Portfolios with oil holdings, no matter how diverse, will take a slight hurt. That is the nature of the stock market though.
But Hey, Texas sweet closed up 2 cents today so maybe the rally is back

Here's a great article about Venezuela. Their time is ticking away, they will soon implode. They're trying to factor PDVSA debt. What will they do next, sell Citgo?
Venezuela is on the verge of a political collapse, exacerbated by falling oil prices, but caused by a growing rift within the Chavista regime and its opposing factions.
Note that if this happens, the Kochs were reported to be interested. I think the Venezuelan's main objection was the fire sale price.
I'm a little confused because you always hear people complain about the rich getting richer and you always hear people complain about gas being expensive. Then you see it go waaay down like this and it's pretty great but then you hear that it's a problem because so many rich people who are invested in oil are going to suffer. Apparently that hurts the economy? But I thought them being rich was the thing hurting the economy? I thought that a rich person getting hit in the stock market while we poor people get cheap gas was a win-win. Maybe I'm missing something. :)
You are missing the fact that if you are a Republican and something changes you must ***** about it and point the finger at the other party. And if you are a Democrat and something changes you must ***** about it and point your finger at the other party. But regardless of which party you are associated with, if NOTHING changes, you must ***** about it and point your finger at the other party.

I generally point a middle finger in the direction of these pompous politicos.
I filled-up for $1.87 in OKC this morning. Not bad, in my book. I like spending $45 on a fill-up instead of $80, for sure. Makes the 160 mile commute more tolerable.

I don't understand what is keeping up gas prices in Wichita. Driving through Salina this weekend and their prices were about $.30-$.40 below Wichita. It looks like OKC is seeing prices $.40-$.50 below Wichita. What's the story?

Two words: Loyalty Programs
Two more words: Dillons, QuikTrip

Those economic factors are not in play in Salina or OKC? I mean Salina doesn't have QT, but that is about the only variance.
I don't think so; not like Wichita. QuikTrip and Dillons/Kroger/KwikShop control the price of gas. Especially QuikTrip. They have to pay for people getting gas for up to $1.00 per gallon cheaper via loyalty programs somehow.
IDK about Salina. I haven't seen loyalty programs for gas in OKC except for Homeland grocery and they are a minor player. There is a lot more competition in the convenience store market in OKC than Wichita.
I can't think of any other explanation. Gas Mafia, maybe?

I'm really not interested in working this debate to death or anything, but Dillons/Kroger/Kwik Shop is present in Salina just like Wichita, and since QT is an OK company I've got to guess their market penetration in OKC isn't much different than Wichita.
As an aside, the new QT at 37th & Rock has 100% gasoline/no ethanol available. THAT makes my day. Freaking ethanol... the (utterly boring) stories I could tell about that craptastic product and the government overreach into the free market that brought it to life.
This has already been covered, but i want to reiterate it. Oil is down because this is the peaceful way to fight the Russians and to combat ISIS. By buying cheap gas, we are doing our part in fighting oppression. Keep buying cheap gas. Yay cheap gas.

For whatever the reason, I know the QTs in Tulsa do not have the rewards program that is in Wichita.
