Ok the pessimist is coming out in me. We captured a boat load of Al Qaeda terrorists, then we released a ton of Al Qaeda terrorists, now there is a large uprising of Al Qaeda (now ISIS) terrorists, so we put some of our best guys at risk to capture (and possibly recapture) the Al Qaeda terrorists. Why? So we can release them and get to do it all over again?

Al Qaeda is different than ISIS/ISIL. Almost entirely different peeps in a Sunni/Shia sorta way.

Well from my understanding ISIS was formed by Al Qaeda's Zarqawi and then by Al Qaeda's al-Masri after him (both joining Al Qaeda after our invasion), creating a delightful Al Qaeda/Sunni extremist rainbow of colors. And until recently they were joined at the hip with Al Qaeda until the two split this year. But I am talking right out the side of my neck, because I get lost in keeping track of this cluster of a family tree of Muslim extremists REAL quick. And honestly I lose interest in it, other than the common theme that they hate us and want us dead and are willing to commit crimes against humanity in pursuit of a caliphate. That's all I need to know. If a Muslim espouses and takes action in pursuing a global caliphate, that's enough for me to draw a conclusion.

They don't hate us. They hate Israel and we back Israel.

No, they hate Israel- AND they hate us. We are a mainly Christian society, as infidels, we are despised. I am puzzled as to why this is so difficult for some.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Israel is known as "the little Satan" while the US is referred to as "the great Satan"

That is kind of a funny analogy.

My political views don't fit the mainstream here, so I hesitate to state them, but I've got some opinions about ISIS.

We are being baited. If we respond with military, we produce the reason for more people to join ISIS. Every ISIS member we kill probably gives them the basis for getting 4 new recruits. The infidels killing their soldiers is the best recruiting strategy ISIS could possibly use.

They've brutally killed a couple of our media people who knew they were going into one of the most dangerous places on Earth. I imagine we've killed more than 2 of their guys, so I don't see how we can take the high road.

If you want to attack ISIS, you'd better kill the women and children, or they will produce more of them faster than you can kill them. Attacking them only turns on the factory that produces more of them. This has been demonstrated repeatedly in Afghanistan, where the USSR lost their military efforts after about 20 years, and we are rapidly approaching the same distinction.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

It makes me feel uneasy, but I have to give the President the benefit of the doubt on this one. When he said "We don't have a strategy", I know what he means is that the Pentagon and the White House don't agree on strategy right now.

I don't think he wanted to intervene in Syria, but felt pushed into it. The Libertarian Conservatives and Anti-War Liberals actually gave him cover against the Military Industrial Complex and Establishment Democrats and Republicans.

I'm not for letting these fools set up an Islamic State, but I don't think there is a clear American interest to sending troops right now.
