That level of cutting just shows how bloated and wasteful and unnecessary such a department was.

Do you truly think, that there's an organization ANYWHERE where 14,000 jobs could be cut down to 294? In an organization of that size, there would be at least 294 good folks working only in maintenance. This is political euphoria at it's best/worst. Are these public statements designed for adult consumption? Or children.
Yes there's waste in government. Much cannot be avoided though. Wanton and reckless political stunts can have far worse effects in the end, than the original problem they were purported to solve.
We need low-key, strategic labor/budget reconciliation from top to bottom. An ability to cut 5% of the workforce without crippling government affairs would be miraculous. This idea of 14,000 to 294 is just babies babbling. Don't slurp up the Gerber. Be VERY suspicious of public pronouncements coming solely from this administration.
And I give this story 1% more credibility because I like Marco (also known as Little Marco). But he kissed the king's ring long ago. He ain't no fool. He's ridin' the Trump Train all the way to the bank.
Even good ol' orange man Trump bashing is now out of vogue. You're supposed to be going after Elon now.

Part of the problem in society is lack of attention space and CRITICAL thinking. Slow it WAYYY down and zoom out brother. You'll see the game board, the pieces, and your opponents advancing on you.
P.S. The enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend.

There might be some truth to this.Attached FilesAn “Old West” Texas analysis and summary of Mueller report and Congress’ efforts in one sentence:

Have any of you spent even 5 seconds away from the Propaganda bullhorn to see what USAID actually does? In totality?
What does USAID do?
Over more than six decades of operations, USAID has taken a number of different approaches to administering foreign aid.
In the 1970s, the agency focused on a “basic human needs approach,” mainly working to provide resources like food and nutrition, health assistance, and education. In the 1980s, it pivoted to larger programs focused on stabilizing foreign financial systems and currencies (in 1989, USAID played a “lead role in planning and implementing programs following the fall of the Berlin Wall,” according to the archived web page.)
In 2023, USAID managed over $40 billion of appropriations provided to around 130 countries, according to the Congressional Research Service (CRS). Of that amount, $16.8 billion went toward governance, while $10.5 billion went to humanitarian aid and $7 billion to health efforts. Per the CRS, the top 10 recipients of USAID funds in 2023 were Ukraine, Ethiopia, Jordan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Nigeria, South Sudan, and Syria.
“Reflecting USAID’s poverty reduction mandate, 70 of the 77 World Bank-determined low- and lower-middle income countries received USAID assistance in FY2023,” the CRS report notes. “USAID programmed 40% of its funds in Europe and Eurasia in FY2023, the majority of which were for Ukraine.”
Musk is framing the attempted shutdown of USAID as part of that individualistic mission, calling the agency a “scam” and a “grift.” This morning, Musk reposted a tweet stating, “Stop giving $ to countries that hate us.”
Meanwhile, experts are warning that killing USAID could have immediate effects on the U.S.’s ability to deliver foreign aid, and that rebuilding the agency from the ground up would require a massive effort.
“It’s a national security tool kit that has been developed over 60 years,” Jeremy Konyndyk, president of the aid group Refugees International, said in an interview with The Washington Post. “And if it’s destroyed, it cannot be easily rebuilt.”
Anybody in here a Christian? It's okay if you're not, I just wanna smack the "Christian" hypocrites in the nuts once today for supporting what would be the exact opposite of the Holy Bible's teachings. USAID primarily keeps people from starving around the world. It costs about 1% of our annual tax receipts.
Jesus said many things about helping the poor, including that we should give to the poor, love them, and treat them with compassion.
Give to the poor- Luke 12:33–34: Jesus said to sell your possessions and give them to the poor.
- Matthew 19:21-24: Jesus said to give everything you have to the poor and follow him.
- Luke 14:12-14: Jesus said to invite the poor to banquets, even if they can't return the favor.
Love the poor- Matthew 25:35-36, 40: Jesus said that whatever we do for the poor, we do for him.
- Luke 6:20-21: Jesus said that the poor are blessed and that the kingdom of God belongs to them.
These are not smart, contemplative, reasonable, even moral people making this decision. Cut out the progressive fat fine... but to scrap the entire program????
*****. Rank. Amateurs.
I just hope the administration that follows these clowns can duct tape things back together. Imagine the cost of fixing what is being needlessly broken? Nobody will be Tweeting THOSE figures. I wish they would.

President Donald Trump's administration shut down USAID, which has awarded millions of dollars to Kansas State University for agricultural research.
Will Kansas State lose $50 million in USAID funding for agriculture research?
The future of tens of millions of dollars in federal funding to Kansas State University for agricultural research as part of international food aid is now in doubt amid turmoil in President Donald Trump's administration.
K-State has been awarded at least three projects over the past two years by the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID. But the shutdown of America's foreign aid agency by billionaire Elon Musk and the Trump administration makes it unclear what will happen to that funding.
"Federal funding supports research at Kansas State University with outcomes that advance biosecurity, agriculture, engineering and human and animal health in Kansas and beyond," said Michelle Geering, a K-State spokesperson, in an email. "We are awaiting updates and guidance from our federal partners and will take action as needed."
The recent project announcements were all through Feed the Future, which was USAID's initiative to address the root causes of global hunger and poverty. Like the USAID website, the Feed the Future website is no longer operational. In its place was a message that that almost all USAID employees are being placed on administrative leave.
Musk, who leads Trump's informal Department of Government Efficiency, has said the president agreed with his plan to shut down USAID. Musk described his actions as "feeding USAID into the wood chipper." But Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said he is now the acting administrator of USAID and parts of it may be absorbed into his department.
None of the changes have congressional approval.
"This international project represents one of the largest and most collaborative research grants in the history of K-State," K-State President Richard Linton said in a November news release. "It builds on our strengths in research innovation and affirms our global reputation for excellence in agricultural and food systems. Being recognized worldwide enhances our position as a next-generation land-grant university."
Dina Esposito, a Feed the Future staffer, said at the time that the "lab led by Kansas State University will conduct research to develop and adapt technologies that increase agricultural productivity on less land with fewer environmental tradeoffs."
Absolute, bluehatted, NPC, amoral, noobs.
