Terror Attack 2025: New Orleans

Bourbon Street became a blood bath as "mostly peaceful" driver slammed into a crowd. At the moment at least 10 ten (but will be climbing) and 35 injured. Reports is the person was wearing body armor, had IED and weapons. The driver was flying a flag on the back of his truck (but all pictures so far show it covered up).

FBI is investigating it as a terrorist attack.

Two New Orleans police officers were wounded who were engaging the terrorist. They are not releasing the name of the terrorist yet.

The DEI hire for the New Orleans FBI office just had her career shortened. If you have not seen the video, the mayor and chief of police said in a news conference that evidence on the scene indicated a terrorist attack, and they were turning the investigation over to the FBI. The FBI agent then gets up and says they are taking over, but it is not a terrorist attack.

Assistant Special Agent in charge of FBI New Orleans Alethea Duncan told reporters at the time, “This is not a terrorist event. What it is right now is there are improvised explosive devices that was found, and we are working on confirming if this is a viable device or not.”

If it were not believed to be a terror attack, then the FBI would have no jurisdiction.

FBI, since her comments, has released a new statement:

"The subject then engaged with local law enforcement and is now deceased. The FBI is the lead investigative agency, and we are working with our partners to investigate this as an act of terrorism."

Fox is reporting the Truck had Texas license plates, it was tracked coming across the border 2 days ago at Eagle Pass, Texas. No pictures yet of what the flag is. My suspicion is ISIS flag.

I think the odds are great in your hypothesis. From a video that shows the vehicle just after the attack, the flag is BLACK with WHITE lettering. My bet is ISIS flag.

It is being reported that IED was real and the police are looking for more. They believe the BnB that the terrorist rented was started on fire. Investigators are trying to determine whether the dead terrorist entered the country recently and if he had a connection to ISIS.

I would assume by them saying this, they know the answers, but this is a way of leaking it without getting in trouble.

On December 9, the Homeland Security released an assessment

"We remain concerned about the use of vehicle ramming against high-profile outdoor events…Vehicle ramming has become a recurring tactic employed by threat actors in the West, marked by a continued interest by (terrorists, extremists) and lone offenders in targeting crowded pedestrian areas.”

There are reports that the vehicle barrier for bourbon street was not down.

The truck appeared to be flying a large black flag from its rear bumper, according to a CBS News review of images of the vehicle. Law enforcement sources told CBS News that investigators are probing whether or not the flag is an ISIS flag or if it is tied to another foreign terror organization.

Fox changed their story when the vehicle came across the border.

Others are reporting the truck is owned by Houston man, and was being rented out (thru Turo).

Born in Beaumont TX and spent 10 years in the military. Will be interesting to hear more as it becomes available. Definitely not the profile I had in mind based on some of the other details above.
