So where u at on the spectrum? This is about to start a MAGA split.

    Vivek Ramaswamy and Musk's position

Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long. A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers.”

    Steve Bannon

Choose a Side: Either Stand with American Citizen Workers or with Globalist Elitist Tech Oligarchs Who Feast on Foreign Indentured Servants …Simple.”

    Nikki Hailey
There is nothing wrong with American workers or American culture. All you have to do is look at the border and see how many want what we have. We should be investing and prioritizing in Americans, not foreign workers,”
    Trump in 2016

In a 2016 statement, Trump attacked the H-1B program as a method for U.S. companies to bring foreign workers into the country “for the explicit purpose of substituting for American workers at lower pay.
    Trump in 2024
Trump said he wants to grant permanent residency to any foreign national who graduates college in the U.S.

“What I want to do, and what I will do is – you graduate from a college, I think you should get automatically, as part of your diploma, a green card to be able to stay in this country,”

    Laura Loomer

It’s alarming to see the number of career leftists who are now being appointed to serve in Trump’s admin when they share views that are in direct opposition to Trump’s America First agenda," she wrote.
President-elect Trump appeared to agree with Elon Musk in supporting immigration visas for highly skilled workers, as the right splits on the ongoing H-1B visa conversation.

Just proves that the right listens to opposing views. Refreshing that those opposing views can be heard and work together for a solution. The left states their view and demands that everyone gets in line.
There is good reason for skepticism on both sides of the argument. Like our welfare system, HB1 was put in place with good intent. The problem lies in the abuse, in this case by corporations using it to cut costs by taking citizens jobs away from them and giving those jobs to non citizens.
That's the issue with most government programs, they are ripe for abuse. Which makes me lean towards eliminating HB1.
Work on improving our education system.

I can't imagine why so many are against highly skilled immigrants helping push America forward. I don't recall that being an issue in the past.

These are the immigrants that we should be fine with keeping. I have no issue with corporations gaining a bit of an advantage. I don't know what the current unemployment rate is for these types of jobs, but maybe this status should fluctuate based on that.

What is 10000% fact though, is that this issue is not nearly as important as many many other issues with regard to immigration. This issue is just a tiny crack that the left and the media are using to try and drum up division with the Trump coalition and the right. Period. It will get dealt with and it will be fine. And which ever way it gets resolved, the media will try and say it's hypocritical here or there and say 'See! Don't you wish you voted for Kamala now? Hmmmm?'

            No, shut up.

Who is actually stirring the pot on immigration? The media for one.

Immigration has many issues, and several sides to the coin.

                1. Border Security. - This issue is mostly settled with blue states/cities seeing disagreement with their Democrat base. Most states except for California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, DC, Chicago, New York City (and a few other areas w/o borders, like portions of Virginia, Lawrence, etc) agree that the borders and illegal immigration needs to be stopped as much as possible.

                2. Legal Immigration such as H1-B Visas, Student visas, Green Cards, etc. are all programs that do not have a consensus within any group and need debate inside and outside of Congress . Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, Races, Business groups, Universities, etc. all have differing interests, and opinions on legal immigration. There are numerous reasons for our lack of skilled and unskilled workers (we seem to have more unskilled illegal workers than we need at the present time), including a failing education system, drugs/alcohol/failing family structure/ education which doesn’t require and teach merit and hard work of American youth, and business interests that need workers and often want to find the cheapest options.

These issues aren’t easily decided, but are necessary in a Democracy where Liberty is/or should be valued.

Because our country has forgotten that it wants to "win." We are more concerned about DEI.

                    1. We have forgotten that our country's foundation has been built on immigration and diversity that comes from robust immigration (and population growth).

                    2. Our Republican and Democratic politicians would rather use immigration as a wedge issue than solve the problem. The border can be secured; it is all about political will and allocating resources.

As I see it most of the young people coming from India and Pakistan to train as CS or Engineers were unable to get into a university in their own country because of the high level of competition for openings, so they come to the US. So are these students considered 2nd tier students. How do we interest the 1st tier students from those countries. Are the educators in this country considered 2nd tier educators. Should we be looking at issuing the H-B1 visas to tier one educators to teach in the US? Seems like it would be a little like making the process more linear.
