Not sure what anyone else thinks about this topic. Was curious to see what people think.

The only thing that makes me chuckle is the Feds stating they have no idea where they are coming from or what they are.

    Riiiiggghhhht.

Some of the videos I watched, I was able to call BS within 5 minutes just by looking at a map and seeing an military base across the street.

But I have no idea on the timing.

In the past a techy friend and I came to the same conclusion: The first generation of anti-drone technology will actually be drones.

That said, local, state, and federal governments have been desperate for anti-drone tech, and it would not surprise me at all if this is a private company working with the government to op-test and or deploy anti-drone tech. I can definitely see where they would want to keep that "quiet" until they are sure it's working.

The testing makes sense. Not sure why they are in NJ, but if they need to test a place with a population, NJ area makes sense too. There seems to be a semi remote facility at Sandy Hook NJ, which seems to be where they are originating. And people seeing them return to sea don't know. Most people can't navigate anywhere 20 minutes from their house.

I’m also leaning towards a drone geek club trying to make the headlines with thousands of copycats to follow.

On a another thread I had posted my thoughts

The drone hysteria is so laughable.

            1. Flying drones is not illegal. There are many reasons to fly drones. Drones are used for delivery, pipeline inspections, insurance companies, law enforcement, etc.

            2. It is a federal crime to attempt to shoot a drone down. And if you have mistaken an airliner for a drone, it could be a real tragedy.

            3. Many drone sightings at night are just aircraft.

            4. There have been foreign actors flying drones into restricted areas. They have been arrested recently. Which should tell you that they can figure out who is flying and track them down.

            5. With the hysteria, I expect there are alot of comedians out there now flying their drones. Looks like 2 of them were arrested around Logan Airport.

            6. I suspect the government is being quiet about this because the hysteria helps hide what they are doing.
a.) In some cases, I expect they are conducting security drills for the bases for anti-drone operations.
b.) In other cases, they may be conducting work on drone tactical training/operations (e.g. drone swarm operations).
c.) There is a drone bill that will significantly increase the requirements and restrictions on drone operations. The hysteria increases the likelihood that the bill will be passed.

I have looked at some of the videos that some posted on the NJ drones. One was a car chasing the moon low on the horizon. Another was starlink satellites strand. Others were commercial or military aircraft.

Also, The War Zone is a media organization that intelligently covers drones and engages in critical thinking on the topic. They realize it is a complex and technical issue. The government is not transparent and is not a reliable source of information, mainly because nobody has forced it to be.

The mainstream media has no clue about what they are talking about and doesn't care. They love the story because it is effective clickbait, and the more hysteria and rumors they generate, the more "clicks" they get.

Here is their latest story. But they have some other good stories, like the drone swarm that occurred in Colorado a few years ago.

This is the first Marine Corps facility to acknowledge drone incursions during the recent wave of sightings at bases across the country.

It sounds like radioactive waste (left over from the 80’s) is difficult to safely dispose of b/c it lasts 1000’s of years. Speculation by several experts is that there are exposed materials in New Jersey that may have been stolen and drones are being used to surveille the situation. Sounds serious.
