  • I've heard him talk on food and while I might not completely support everything, a lot of what he says and his overall goal there is honorable.

I don't think we need to be as strict as some of Europe, but being a little more cautious with some things is definitely a plus.

    • So I'm hearing we'll have stricter regulations when it comes to the food hitting shelves, while cutting costs everywhere else. I'll believe it when I see it.

Just don’t allow your kids to eat food.

Are you a doctor? Most doctors aren’t even educated on the food that we eat.

I'm all for tighter regulations against harmful chemicals and pesticides. Just will take a wait and see approach before getting my hopes up.

Your point? Do you actually have one?

1 in 6 Americans have diabetes.

Here are the numbers for heart disease, and other heart related illnesses, and the numbers of sick kids are exploding. Europe has much smaller disease percentages. We spend (no waste) a lot of money on disease that could be avoided if corporate interests didn’t Trump public health interests. I think there should be common ground to assist with health.

How our government operated during COVID opened up my eyes to corporate medical companies lobbying the government Drug interests. Big food interests are similar.

                  • I’m iffy on RFK. He has an authoritarian bent. LIBERTY should be the focus of the entire cabinet. Florida needs to be a local government decision. Nothing should be mandated and the FDA should have tighter controls on what is allowed in our food. Dyes should be banned. So should synthetic B12.

Not sure about their knowledge of food, but the amount of drugs some of them prescribe is ridiculous. To many folks take a drug for one ailment then the doctors keep adding to the list to take care of the side effects of each of the other drugs. Before you know it, your slamming 5 or more pills into your system, and your system goes crazy.

I feel ya. I'd never vote for him to be president or anything like that, but having him head this department may not be so bad. He can't dictate too much, but this is an area where he seems fairly well educated and has a passion to help improve what we put into our bodies. I'm cautiously optimistic about him in this role.

What an incredibly original and informed opinion! Have you ever thought about having your ideas published? Perhaps holding a symposium and opening the world to these pearls???

Here's something else you may find fascinating!

Drugs Launched After 1981 Have Saved 149 million Years of Life

Global immunization efforts have saved an estimated 154 million lives – or the equivalent of 6 lives every minute of every year – over the past 50 years. The vast majority of lives saved – 101 million – were those of infants.

Over the past 50 years, vaccination against 14 diseases (diphtheria, Haemophilus influenzae type B, hepatitis B, Japanese encephalitis, measles, meningitis A, pertussis, invasive pneumococcal disease, polio, rotavirus, rubella, tetanus, tuberculosis, and yellow fever) has directly contributed to reducing infant deaths by 40% globally

For each life saved through immunization, an average of 66 years of full health were gained – with a total of 10.2 billion full health years gained over the five decades. As the result of vaccination against polio more than 20 million people are able to walk today who would otherwise have been paralysed, and the world is on the verge of eradicating polio, once and for all.

                            • I heard Dr. Marc Siegel (NYU Langone) today, answering questions pertaining to RFK’s Cabinet nomination. He was speaking specifically on chronic disease in America.

“73% of the food on store shelves today, are Ultra-processed foods full of chemicals that lead to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic diseases.”

To each their own. I'd much rather go the natural route and address with diet and exercise when possible.
