What Are the Advantages and Disadvantages of the Gold Standard?

After the news of Pompeo wanting to kidnap and/or murder Julian Assange I would hope he's never in a position of power again. It's also one thing that gives me pause about Trump. I can't remember how involved he was in those talks off the top of my head, but I'm concerned with anyone in a position of power who felt that was an honest option.

Important decision coming up Wednesday when the Senate votes (secretly) for the new senate majority leader. The names being tossed around aren't great. Cornyn, Thune and Scott. Scott would be the best as Cornyn and Thune are definitely lap dogs for McConnell. Scott may be beholding to McConnell as well. Would love to see Mikel Lee or Ted Cruz throw their hat in the ring although they may be too conservative and principled to attract enough votes in the parliament of whores.

One interesting possibility is that JD Vance apparently can also serve in that capacity.

Rubio as Secretary of State - good choice IMO.

Anyone not tied to McConnell who should not have run for re-election. Thank you, Mitch, but go away.

My understanding is that Mitch is pushing against Trump's preferred choice, Scott.

Looks like Scott doesn't have the votes.

Question is which side - the pro-Scott or Pro-Thune?
