Government cares more about authority and power than helping those in need.

But we have a **** ton of money to send around the world for **** that doesn't really have anything to do with us and has little to no effect on Americans.

The only thing I can possibly think is, they are trying to prevent looting. But there comes a point when the disaster is so bad your common sense HAS to tell you to stop worrying about looters and get out of the way if there are self proclaimed trained volunteers that can help save lives.

Our federal government is degrading quickly under it's own weight.

This is one reason I started this thread, but there are a lot of other instances outside of disasters and such and in just normal run of the mill life where similar government problems arise as well. So it starts here, but I expect to keep this thread going from time to time with non-emergency type of things as well.

But when it comes to things like this, it's just so much more obvious and stands out. One of the few things government should potentially be involved in and they fail miserably.
