  • Textron IAM rejects Contract and votes to go on strike

    Textron offered:

    2024 - 11% Increase in wages
    2025 - 4% increase in wages
    2026 - 5% increase in wages
    2027 - 6% increase in wages
    • $3,000 lump sum bonus each year
    • COLA increases each year (from $700) to $1500
    • A longevity pay (not sure how much this amounts to).
    • Increased the 401k match to 50% for up to 9% (previously, I think it was 7%)
    • Skill bonus for workers working in skill areas and for those who have specialized licenses/certifications—it could be as much as $7000 per year for some.

This is in addition to Textron's additional 4% above the contract they gave a couple of years ago.

    The IAM negotiators recommended approval.

I saw one worker say that his sticking point was that he wanted better bereavement.
Another worker said they had the opportunity to strike seven years ago and didn't, so they needed to do it this time.

Wow, that was a generous offer. If Textron now plays hardball, they aren't going to get near that goodness a deal.

If Textron can do it, I'd start advertising for workers and begin replacing machinists a few at a time until they come to their senses.

That looks pretty good to me. In this economy I would say outstanding.
