"I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize life is a gift from God, and I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen,"
      The candidate's direct quote.

I believe what was being said that as detestable is rape, just because a child is conceived by rape, doesn't mean that that child is unimportant and cannot be used by God. That child is no less human than any other child in Gods eyes. There are people who were conceived by rape and made contributions to society.

Martin Sheen wife was conceived through rape. Ethel Waters was a great african american blues singer conceived through rape. She toured with Billy Graham.

Here is a story from a rape survivor who decided to keep her child.

Bottom line God loves legitimate babies, illegitimate babies, bastard babies, and rape babies. There is no difference in God's eyes.

Are those criticizing Mourdock trying to suggest that babies conceived in rape are not loved by God? That he does not intend for them to receive His gift of life? Are they ready to point their fingers at Angelina Jolie’s adopted daughter Zahara, who was conceived in rape, and tell her, “God didn’t intend for you to have life”?
Of course not. They know what Mourdock really meant—that a child like Zahara was intended by God to be conceived, born and welcomed in life by a society that recognizes the value of every human life.
Abortion proponents and their friends in the mainstream media are going ballistic over a comment yesterday by Richard Mourdock, a Republican running for senate in Indiana. In explaining his pro-life position during a candidate’s debate, Mourdock said, “Life is a gift from God and I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of […]

I probably shouldn't be getting in the middle of this, but here goes. What God intended was that when sperm meets egg, life is created and that is His gift. The circumstances of that meeting is man's doing. Man can do as God says/asks/demands or man can do an abomination such as rape. In any case, life may be created and that resulting life had no say in its beginning and as SB said, there is no difference in God's eyes. The problem with what was said may be how it was said can be due to poor semantics or, to some, it may be that he meant what he said and that God intended the rape (destined to happen). The second I refuse to personally believe in.

I would have to think that Satan is somehow involved when a woman is raped. If a woman should choose to not have a child whose conception was instituted by an act of Satan, should she be forced to bear that child?

Sometimes I get a bit skeptical when man defines what is God's will. That may be one person's interpretation of what is God's will, but why is that person's interpretation of God's will better than mine, and what if I disagree with that person?

I don't think it's God's will that to create another person, a woman must be raped.

This has got to rank right up there with one of the most stupid comments ever made.
