For Sesame Street to do well in the private sector, it will need to find a whole new set of sponsors. Because I hear the advertising budgets of letters and numbers have been slashed dramatically with the rise in popularity of computers and the internet.

Last year Sesame Street grossed $122 million dollars not counting $8 million in government grants.

They could still be sponsored by letters and numbers and make big money.

I thought Romney won the debate on style. Obama looked very tired. Romney just plain ran over him.

But the only new budget cut that I heard Romney give was that he wanted to end the public subsidy for PBS. Defunding Big Bird is not going to make a dent in the budget deficit but I guess it is a start.

I got very annoyed every time Romney kept saying Obama was going to cut $716 Billion out of medicare and he wouldn't.

We need deep budget cuts over the next 4 years and all Romney will say is he wants to INCREASE defense spending by $2 trillion, increase $716 billion in Medicare spending (over Obama's proposal), cut taxes by $4.8 trillion (I know he says they will be revenue neutral but he doesn't give the details on how to make that happen) oh yeah and cut the federal subsidy to PBS.

I don't like Obama. At the beginning of this campaign I was really hoping for a good alternative. I listened to nearly the entire Republican Convention hoping to get something concrete out of Romney. But it didn't happen. And even last night with his energy and good debate performance he still sounds more like a tax and spend liberal (even wanting to spend $716 billion MORE on medicare than Obama) than someone who really wants to seriously tackle the budget deficit.

After watching last night's debate I am more convinced than ever that I am going to vote for the Libertarian this year.

You don't vote libertarian, you push their ideas into the GOP, but you don't vote for them. Libertarians need to infiltrate the party much like commys have done with the Dems, but don't vote for them when they run outside of a potential winner.

In normal times I would disagree whole-heartedly. These are not normal times and libertarians need to recognize the implications of Obama being reelected. Their aspirations will likely be lost for a very, very long time should that happen.

They would do well to support the GOP this one time.

No candidate can list specifics of WHAT they will cut-- it would be election suicide. All they can do is reaffirm that they will look to make cuts. Thats the reality of winning an election.

He did however indicate over and over that he would reduce the size of the federal government by consolidating branches and divisions and through attrition. That could make a major and deep impact in spending if he takes a Turn-Around CEO type stance.

If Romney gets elected, I think the earliest his permanent 20% across the board tax cuts would not happen until 2014. I don't know what the forecasted tax revenue will be for that year. In 2011, tax revenue brought in around $2.3 trillion, which comes out to $460 billion a year or $4.6 trillion over 10 years. If tax revenues for 2014 end up being around $2.5 trillion then that will be $5 trillion over 10 years. I don't know why Romney now says he doesn't want a $5 trillion tax cut.

Actually, Romney has been more accurate in his proposed policies and numbers than any candidate in recent memory. Obama promised us low unemployment, he absolutely promised it.

I understand partisanship and trying to nit pick your opponent, but if the press is going to play fair, and treat candidates equally, isn't it time for the press to start hammering Obama with the same question they asked Bush when he was running against Kerrey. "Name at least one mistake you've made in your first term."

If your tax rate drops causing a $5000 reduction in taxes but your favorite deduction is no longer allowed causing your taxes to increase by $1500, will you tell your wife that you got a $5000 tax cut or a $3500 tax cut this year?
