That's a bit overly simplified. Republicans that hold true to their beliefs are often attacked and criticized by the party for not falling in line.

It's easy for Dems though, because their only belief is to have control over the government. Which gives them and their donors entry into the grift. Then, all they need to do to stay in the grift, is spend tax money on donors, and promise to spend tax money on voters who want to receive said tax money.

That's it. That's all government is. The only thing that changes is the 'crisis' to scare the uneducated from public school plebs into voting for Dems to save them from the evil republicans who want them to die.

As least you're aware enough to admit where that stink is coming from, and why...

That is true. I myself am a bit disappointed that gaetz brought this on. But I agree with him most of the time. I also agree with McCarthy most of the time. I also agree with my wife most of the time. But there are always some things I disagree with all 3 mentioned.
So how is it all Dems agree with each other all other all of the time. Stay in lockstep with their party leaders.

The republican party would benefit if their members stayed in lockstep, but I'd rather have representatives who hold to their convictions and represent their constituents. So it's a catch 22 of sorts.

Dems have a fair amount of kooks too. We may differ where the kook Mason-Dixon line is, but you can start with “The Squad” and work your way from there. Here’s the thing when Pelosi had the gavel she regularly served the far left wing a nice warm glass of shut the hell up. They may have squawked but they fell in line when votes were needed. She wasn’t getting run around by Ilhan Omar that’s for sure.

Pelosi is a smart woman but very self serving and a total liberal. California liberal through and through. Great at giving hubby inside info in order to make a buck. She's as dirty as most of the politicians in DC. We need real business people running the country not life long politicians.

At this point in time, Republicans are like the school bully who takes your lunch money and does stupid things. The Democrats are like the Mafia...anything that matters they do in lockstep, like voting as a block in the House with 8 Republican votes to oust McCarthy.

Jim Jordan as speaker would be glorious.

He will be a good one, but I like the idea of trump going in for about 3 months. It would cause a Democrat meltdown unlike anything we've ever seen.

Scalise won 113 votes, Jordan won 99.

Now go to the house to see if the Republican will rally around Scalise or not.

Republican dysfunction continues. Scalise is nowhere close to having the votes. Some reports say he is 20 votes short.

                            Jake Sherman @JakeSherman

It’s safe to say that this House Republican Conference meeting has not moved Congress closer to electing a permanent speaker. Like not at all. In any way.

                            John Bresnahan @bresreports

“Steve is done. 100% done,” said one GOP source. “We might never elect a speaker.”

                                Scalise drops out.

Hakeem Jeffries has better betting odds than most republicans of being the next speaker.
