No doubt. In addition, this likely creates some complications decisions for the incoming Biden Administration in terms of selecting an Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General. Many of the senior officials from the end of the Obama Administration will likely be required to recuse themselves from overseeing the Durham investigation if the GOP controls the Senate and the nominee wants to be confirmed. Sally Yates has been identified as a likely pick for Attorney General, but it is difficult to see how she could ever try to sidestep the issue of whether she has a conflict of interest that requires her recusal since she had overall responsibility for supervising all DOJ components when Crossfire Hurricane was first opened. She is at minimum a witness to the decision-making inside DOJ and the FBI.

OTOH, it's been a long-time since Democrats showed much concern for what at least half of American citizens think and they no longer seem to have much respect or consideration for the rule of law. In fact, it is clear we have at least a two tiered legal system. Certainly equal justice for all has become pretty much just a saying with little substance.

Theoretically, it allows him to continue his investigation into the Biden administration without it being shut down.

The special counsel statute states:

(d) The Special Counsel may be disciplined or removed from office only by the personal action of the Attorney General. The Attorney General may remove a Special Counsel for misconduct, dereliction of duty, incapacity, conflict of interest, or for other good cause, including violation of Departmental policies. The Attorney General shall inform the Special Counsel in writing of the specific reason for his or her removal.

However, I'm not sure the presents anything more than a minor speed bump in a Biden administration.

Federal authorities on Thursday arrested Igor Danchenko, a Russian analyst who contributed to the discredited, anti-Trump Steele dossier.

According to The New York Times, Danchenko was “the primary researcher” of the dossier, which compiled unfounded rumors about the 45^th president in an effort to show he was “compromised by and conspiring with Russian intelligence officials” to help bring Hillary Clinton down. The document was then used by the FBI to illegally spy on the Trump campaign in 2016.
