Serious question........if one's breath is so contagious. why do they have to stick a Q-tip 8 inches into your head to test you?

Did they eradicate the disease there or something? In case you didn't recall, they were the epicenter of the disease for a while so while you applaud them for their handling, they still lost a ton of people in a short amount of time like we did. But they're clearly out of lockdown now, right? Just like we are. So again, I ask, did they reach a zero percent infection rate or something?
Our country was shut down pretty harshly for a solid month.
Our lockdown didn't even approach theirs with respect to adherence and severity. They had a freakin' 2 month national quarantine. Covid-19 is literally THE most infectious and dangerous disease this world has dealt with in a long time. You are not going to control it without draconian measures that will likely cause liberty-loving patriots to cringe (and revolt). If you allow little embers to burn around your country they will eventually grow into fires again until all the fuel (population) is burned.
Our "lock down" had a great effect but it wasn't sufficient unfortunately and our promised "state of the art", "greatest in universe" testing and contact tracing system never materialized.
We now must back-peddle like a mofo in hopes of staving off further economic and civil destabilization.
Part of the reason I preach so hard on social distancing and mask wearing is because I live in a state that thus far believes little in either. Add in the fact that I constantly drive by restaurants and bars that are packed to the rafters and you'll understand why I come on here to vent.
Literally just the other evening I drove by Old Chicago on E. Kellogg and it was absolutely packed. In fact, I use to NEVER see the parking lot so full.
We deserve everything we get unfortunately.
I still resent the premise of your questioning.
I also resent the dishonest intentions. You're not here to learn or help.

"Breath" is obviously contagious in its various droplet forms, but it's not as contagious as if you licked the back of someone's nasal cavity.
Sitting across the booth from someone with Covid for an hour... you're just about guaranteed of infection sans mask. Hang a Q-tip in the same location for an hour? Who knows if it would test positive.
Your intentions are suspect sir. :(

Plus, the Q-tip cannot actively draw air around itself to "gather" virus particles. It's just a tiny dry stick with a fuzzy tip. When you are at the table breathing, you are vacuuing in all kinds of **** into your throat, lungs, and nasal passageways, and it's all sticking to your mucosa.

However, when we meet again, as will likely happen since you are posting about a virus on the political forum and opening yourself up to a critical rebut, remember: FoxNews, hannity (i know, i know), Limbaugh, Lewandowski, Tucker, McCenany, et. al., and tons of others, AGREE WITH ME, and not the other way around. Don't sell short on that one, my vainglorious and ubiquitous ShockerNet Speculator. I believe you are better than mere Snowflake logic.Last edited by ShockingButTrue; July 10, 2020, 05:23 PM.

Okay bro, here goes.
Spain and Italy locked their country down in ways that would cause Americans to start revolting in the streets. Actually, we kinda already did. They had people so locked up and desperate they would all stand on their porches at night and sing to each other for comfort. They absolutely went hardcore China-mode on their citizenry and they did it for an extended period.

Extreme social distancing is very effective at stifling disease spread for obvious reasons. Nobody in Trump's administration was going to follow the lead of a Socialist state like Italy. It would have been political suicide. It appears their methods were correct. Hindsight is 20/20 though. Get into a time machine and start arresting people for jogging in America and see what happens... that's what they did in Italy. If you were caught on the streets without a "hall pass" you were fined, arrested, ordered to return home, or all of the above.
Italy did a better job of emergency shutdowns and they are now doing a MUCH better job of contact tracing. They are winning this battle with the kinds of Draconian measures Dr. Fauci has talked about. Good old fashioned locking people up like rats. Not in America my friend.
And I resent the premise of your post. Stop denying. We are facing a serious threat. The cost of delusion at this point is so far out of balance with the cost of effective action, it's ridiculous. You need to check yourself.

Saliva is a time-tested and proven diagnostic. It utilizes nanotechnology and molecular diagnosis capabilities. Why are the biomarkers of covid insufficient through saliva is what I would like to know.
P.s. we're probably following the china method, as prescribed by the World Health OrganizationLast edited by ShockingButTrue; July 10, 2020, 06:16 PM.

It's incomplete for sure. Diseases enter the mouth, or, if you like, the throat canal. Covid is not free from that route, one would safely presume.

How were virus' tested for over the last 10-20 years, of which there were/are several? What were their particle measurable's?
Just askin'. Why on the political forum I don't know. Oh, wait... FoxNews (not directed at you wu).Last edited by ShockingButTrue; July 10, 2020, 06:23 PM.

Not an expert on this testing, but:
For decades, Flu was diagnosed symptomatically rather than by laboratory. The nasopharynx has the most dense population of viral load that is easily extractable, I.e. the gag reflex is a serious problem to overcome. Other, less invasive, extractions do exist, but they are less reliable in their results.Livin the dream
