    • But but but I thought there was going to be a huge spike in deaths and that they were all going to be young people? What happened? Let me guess, those results will come in next week? Total BS!

It called lag bias. This week death haves creeped up over last week. This will end about 7-8 weeks of declines in deaths.

It's fools gold though as I will bet everything I have in the bank that there are FAR more positive cases in Wichita than are recorded on the books. Hell... I know 7 right now.

Certainly there are a lot of people out there that don’t know they have it. The problem is that when there is anecdotal evidence of failures in the testing and/or a lack of integrity, it makes the case count a bad measure. When that’s a questionable measurement, it makes decisions harder on where to focus efforts and how to stop it.

How confident are you that this person is being totally honest?

I've seen a similar story posted on facebook twice today (see below), only there were three in the family. Makes me wonder if this is a copy-paste-edit hoax, a systemic problem, or an individual lab that needs to stop being used as a Covid test center.

EDIT: The persons who shared it on my timeline said it was Wichita, but it was actually in Lawrence.

                  Facebook links beg credibility.

Not the facebook post itself, but the one who would link it. C'mon man.

                  • I went to that person's facebook page to find the post. She claims to know the people involved, and a few others have commented that the same thing happened to people they know (yes, that is questionable). The commonality seems to be these pop-up "clinics". Assuming these are true, what I have to wonder if if there are people who truly did test positive but haven't been notified because their tests got tied to the wrong person's paperwork. So it's entirely possible that the counts are just fine, but the wrong people are getting notified.

took a self administered test at cvs at central and oliver on the 29th of june... still don't have the results back yet. took a professionally administered test at Healthcore on the 1st of July. got the results on the 2nd...positive.

for those getting the testing, beware of what you're getting.

Brother, you're like a rant machine whose off switch is broken. You literally scare me. I am not your enemy. If you see a Republican person like myself as the enemy, then all you'll likely have left to call friend is the Alex Jones's of the world. I am an original thinking intellectual conservative/moderate who doesn't get his "ideas"/propaganda from Rush Limbaugh or Mark Levine. And Sean Hannity? He's like one of those dolls where you pull the string for a message. That ol' boy hasn't had an original thought since birth. Like Forrest Gump, he's not a smart man. He's a Conservative trooper though. I just doubt he could explain to you why.

As far as committing cognitive biases. That's impossible for me sir. The brain literally won't do it... unless I'm trolling. And I assure you I am not trolling on these matters.

If you're looking for examples of logical fallacies look no further than the straw men that have been flowing from your keyboard as if off an assembly line. MSNBC! CNN! BIDEN! AOC! I mean what.. the.. fk.. broseph.. stay on point.

I've given you multiple examples of testing failures in our area. Others have also. It's clear that a totally "free market", "state independent" system of testing was a failure. In times of emergency we need organization, cooperation, and clear leadership more than we need innovation and incentives. If we were to go to war with China, we wouldn't ask the 50 states to bring their own weaponry and strategies to defend their respective states would we? Of course not. Top-down, autocratic approaches are what a society needs in times of chaos/war (of which we are currently in). This is why China has done better than expected and why India is in for a world of hurt.

I hate to call you out like this, but you've addressed my "logic" on multiple occasions and then run off into tangential rants while tilting at a continent of windmills. I can't get into a keyboard battle with you because you have more time and energy than myself, and I know hard work beats talent every day and twice on Sunday. So let me just say... you win! :)

If you have a SINGLE question for me and would sincerely like to hear my opinion on it, then I will try and respond. But if you crank the scarecrow machine up to 11 again and aim it at me... I will have to ignore you like the rest of the ankle-biters who are queued up waiting to have a go with a legend. I'm not a carnival ride sir; I'm retired.

                            Okay bro, here goes.

Spain and Italy locked their country down in ways that would cause Americans to start revolting in the streets. Actually, we kinda already did. They had people so locked up and desperate they would all stand on their porches at night and sing to each other for comfort. They absolutely went hardcore China-mode on their citizenry and they did it for an extended period.

Extreme social distancing is very effective at stifling disease spread for obvious reasons. Nobody in Trump's administration was going to follow the lead of a Socialist state like Italy. It would have been political suicide. It appears their methods were correct. Hindsight is 20/20 though. Get into a time machine and start arresting people for jogging in America and see what happens... that's what they did in Italy. If you were caught on the streets without a "hall pass" you were fined, arrested, ordered to return home, or all of the above.

Italy did a better job of emergency shutdowns and they are now doing a MUCH better job of contact tracing. They are winning this battle with the kinds of Draconian measures Dr. Fauci has talked about. Good old fashioned locking people up like rats. Not in America my friend.

And I resent the premise of your post. Stop denying. We are facing a serious threat. The cost of delusion at this point is so far out of balance with the cost of effective action, it's ridiculous. You need to check yourself.

You still sidestepped the question, bro.

Did they eradicate the disease there or something? In case you didn't recall, they were the epicenter of the disease for a while so while you applaud them for their handling, they still lost a ton of people in a short amount of time like we did. But they're clearly out of lockdown now, right? Just like we are. So again, I ask, did they reach a zero percent infection rate or something?

Our country was shut down pretty harshly for a solid month.

Don't lack courage Son; it's contagious, and bad for the immune system. Employ social distancing, please.

So Wichita is the only City not testing well (there's your question)? It's Trump's fault? You are on the political board. What do you expect my fellow Shocker Head? When you make generalized sweeping statements like "Fox news bad" you come off as just another Deplorable spouting acolyte who blames your President for failing local leadership. Again, on this political board thick skin is required, intelligent observations are appreciated, both sides of the story are a must. You sir, are a Paper Lion if you cannot exhibit restraint in the heat of the joust, thus resorting to juvenile ranting. I will continue to do my best to be fair and balanced, minus cnn references (maybe), when you relinquish your insistence that anyone who disagrees with a partial observation of yours must be a R. Limbaugh fan with no critical thoughts of their own. You've disappointed with your ill-considered and thought out rejoinder.

Legend? No. My replies to your knee-jerk, partial insertions are a result of your own hurried insistence to jump to the front of the line; or, what is better known as being a front-runner. Like the untutored petulant child who you really love, "this is gonna' hurt me more than it hurts you." Sir, I need not joust with you in any fashion. I'm confident in the facts I present and need no endorsement from hannity, limbaugh or r. stone. Nor do I seek meaningless political scores to make myself feel, or look, good. I was all alone in 2015/2016 on this board, suffering slings and arrows. Where were you, recovering? Or just lurking, shivering?

You can either put me on block, or follow through and never respond to my fact-authenticated parries, because frankly I prefer short and concise discourse, without ad hominems, and you're kinda' disingenuous. But rest assured while you're here on the political forum you will be challenged when you lob softballs. Street cred' ain't got nothing to do with it.
