  • Washington Monuments - They need to be ripped down

I was making a joke today at work that they would be demanding that all the monuments in Washington D.C. would need to be removed. Hardly 5 minutes later stories from Pelosi and CNN came out demanding various monuments be taken down.

In a letter sent on Wednesday, Pelosi asked the Joint Committee on the Library — led by Senate Rules and Administration Chairman Roy Blunt, a Missouri Republican, and House Administration Chairwoman Zoe Lofgren, a California Democrat — to direct the Architect of the Capitol to remove the statues of soldiers and officials who represent the Confederacy.

CNN's Angela Rye called for statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson to come down Thursday on the network.

This kind of "reaction" by some people who blame ones like Washington and Jefferson for having slaves and, it seems, for slavery itself is simply beyond belief. One wonders if they ever pick up a book and studied slavery. They act like it all started with the settling of North America. Slavery has gone on for thousands of years. It happened in ancient Egypt (both black and white slaves), Greek and Roman empires, and in the ancient Americas by the Incas and Aztecs. Even in Africa, the stronger cultures preyed on the weaker ones.

Slavery is probably as old as mankind. Generations upon generations were brought up around forms of slavery. Many times it had nothing to do with whether it was right or wrong, it's just the way it was. It was inbred in cultures, including the United States. Men like Washington and Jefferson were the beginning of the end of slavery because of the country they forged. Within 100 years of this country's birth, a great war was fought where over 350,000 Union soldiers died and another 260,000 wounded that set free approximately 4 million slaves. Was freedom going to be easy? No! Again, we are talking about a culture in the south that goes back generations and where most northerners had not been exposed to what the blacks had gone through.

Less than another 100 years a great man of vision, Martin Luther King, Jr, took it all to another level. IMO, a level that has been somewhat lost by to many and has delayed a better situation for all.

We are witnessing some very dangerously stupid people here.

"Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it" is a metaphysical principle of being. One can't help but think that this is what they really want...

Hopefully Trump's rallies will be drama-free over the Summer.

on #3, our Trump haters on Shockernet who I won’t name will blame any drama on Trump just having his rallies instead of the anarchists (we see them in Seattle, Minneapolis, New York, etc. who now are looting, etc. who have attended his rallies before attacking people and causing problems.

Start with the democrats. They are the current slave owners. Anyone not on their plantation is an outcast.

Talk about racist. To demand an entire race of people think the same, vote the same. Treat them as though they can't function without special treatment. Oversee police forces that brutalize and murder them.... I tell you, it's despicable and we shant have any monuments to democrats anywhere.

Start with renaming or tearing down anything with LBJ's name. The real racist!

Sadly, there are fellow black people that treat each other the same way.

Last night, During a rally in New Mexico to tear down the statue of a conquistador. A group of open carry counter protestors were trying to defend the statue. After a brief but heated scuffle, the open carry protestors (calling themselves the Civil Guard) began leaving the scene.

While the unnamed rallyers were attempting to tear down the statue, several of them broke away from the group and began beating on one of the Civil Guard. This guy unholstered his pistol, and with it pointed at the ground, backed away And said to stop. Three guys jumped him and someone shouted, “we are going to kill you”. He shot one of them, and that man later died.

The mayor and the governor have stated that the Civil Guard will be prosecuted as a hate group.

I do not know what the Civil Gaurd stands for, but I encourage you to check out the video. There is not a clearer justification of lethal self defense which I have ever seen.

They chased and attacked him. Threatened his life. He defended himself. WTF did they think was going to happen?

But aren't there good people who don't want the statues torn down? Good people on both sides?

Don't look now, but "free speech" is now labeled under the -ahem- Deplorable File. It's a BIG file too (and that's the truth).

Lincoln statue in Philly was being attacked the other day and also a statue of an abolistionist in Philly (I forget the name) who fought slavery, and built schools for black children as early as 1835, had Colonialist and other graffiti painted on it.

Soon there will have to be a movement to change the name of our nations Capitol from Washington DC to who knows what else.
