I stopped by Cabela's at Greenwich and K-96 at around 4:30 this afternoon (Saturday, June 6th). Sign on the door said they were closing at 5:00 pm and sorry for any inconvenience. After picking up a few fishing tackle items I headed over to the checkout stands. I then noticed that the doors and windows where you would normally exit were boarded up and the doors were also blocked with large boxes with Browning printed on the side. Gun safes I assume. I had to retrace back to the main entrance to exit the store and the windows on that side of the store were also boarded up. I asked by the cashier who waited on me and one of the employees at the customers service desk what was going on. Both replied that they did not know. Not sure I buy that. More likely is that is how they were instructed to respond.
Not sure if this is something they are doing as a preventative measure nationwide or if they have gotten wind of something on social media. I suppose the fact that Cabela's does carry and sell guns could be a factor. I really did not notice whether any of the other business in the center were doing anything.although I really wasn't checking that out to any degree.
