  • Homeland Security - Protecting you

$77,000 to local fire departments for puppet and clown shows
    $22,000 for educational robot
$300,000 for electronic message boards to notify you of evacuation routes and charity fish frys

13 snow cone makers - for every county located in Michigan Homeland Security Region 6 (we used to have $700 hammers, now we have $900 snow cone makers)

The homeland security reason for purchasing these snow cone makers

they (homeland security officials) felt in a medical emergency the machine was capable of making ice packs which could be used for medical purposes.”
In which those protecting western Michigan from al Qaeda did their best to justify spending a homeland-security grant on 13 snow-cone machines.

Coming soon to an Oligarchy near you. Thanks Republicrats.

The Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General (OIG) has found that DHS under-uses its pilot-less drones, and does so without sufficient planning or budgeting. My sense is that DHS has fallen into the same trap as the Pentagon on a smaller scale and is infatuated with toys for adult males, in this case the drones. The wasteful nature of using (or having and not using) the drones was something I covered in a blog nearly two years ago.

Why does he have to be afraid of anything? Can someone not object to increased surveillance of citizens without something to hide?

It reminds me of the parable about the person who didn't object to laws against things that didn't affect him. Then one day when it finally did, there was no one left to defend him.

We should all be concerned about these things. Freedom and liberty isn't lost in one fell swoop. It's lost incrementally.

It is fear mongering and the facts are not even right. People still blaming bush?

Right now the FAA has significant limit on allowing un-manned drone fly in the U.S. And it was OBAMA who has signed into law a bill allowing 25 lb. requiring the FAA to work through the issue of having unmanned drones to be able to fly by 2015.

Are you really going to tell me you don't like having that Policemen patrol your neighborhood? Maybe you don't realize it, but he is conducting Survellience, just very inefficiently and in wastefull manner.
