    This crap is getting ridiculous.

The Des Moines Register has been forced to hire extra security for its newsroom due to threats.

An Iowa newspaper journalist who exposed racist tweets by a sports fan at the centre of a viral charity fundraiser has himself been fired after his own offensive posts resurfaced.
"I am so embarrassed and stunned to reflect on what I thought was funny when I was 16-years-old," he said of the old tweets.

He emphasised that the state's largest newspaper "has been nothing but kind in all of their coverage, and I appreciate the reporter pointing out the post to me".

"I want to sincerely apologise," Mr King said. "Thankfully, high school kids grow up and hopefully become responsible and caring adults."

    I love it!

People should not be held accountable as an adult for things said as a minor. There is a reason the word "maturity" exists.

A great letter from an Iowa Busch Light fan to Anheuser Busch.

I totally agree. There are a lot of beer options to chose from and A-B has fallen to the bottom of my list not that they will miss my meager beer consumption.

Cancel culture fits right in with our self-righteous indignation culture, outrage culture, and boycott culture, which afflict all ideologies and viewpoints, IMHO. I'm sure there are some who feed off all that, but for me it just creates outrage overload.

I was just about to reply about how A-B ought to review all past statements by their employees and fire anyone who said anything distasteful. Then I saw the PS in the letter. Exactly.

I find it both sad and humorous the DM-Reg reporter lost his job over the same thing he dredged up about Carson King.

She's embarrassing to watch, if not just because she appears embarrassed most of the time. Why has she not dropped out yet?

For one thing a lot of these candidates like Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg are still pulling in pretty good coin into their campaign coffers which they can sit on unitl they need it for future campaigns or to support the candidate of their choice who might be beholden for receiving such finanancial support.

They could donate any excess campaign funds to charity but don't hold your breath on that one.
