  • Iran Bold Assassination Plot in US (or stupid?)

In a hard to believe story a brother-in-law (US Citizen) of Iranian Qods Force represenative paid 1.5 million to a mexico cartell member to attempt an assination of the Saudi ambassador in the US. Unfortuntately for the iranians the bank acount the money was wired to was a FBI account and the cartel member was a FBI informant.

The alleged Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States may be an act of war against the U.S., the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee said Wednesday.

"It may be," Sen. Carl Levin, a Democrat, told reporters

This is not unprecedented for the Iranians; a similar act was successful in the 1980's with the Shah's former ambassador and face of the Iranian resistance movement. Only it was a local gang member dressed as a postal worker who put 3 shots to the belly & chest of the former ambassador. The scope of this plot is obviously much larger and was intended to do more damage than simply the Saudi ambassador but bystanders as well.
