I like him as well, but his positions on a number of issues are left of mine. He is likeable, tho, and the importance of that is significant.

I like him too. It is too bad he has decided not to run. I could vote for him.

              Stock Watch

              [up]

              Romney - remains
Cain (though he starting to take some shots, we will see how he handles it all)
Gingrich - has slowly been trending up, could he be a king make by who he eventually endorses?

              [down]
Perry - looks like he has bottomed out, does he have another life
              Bachman - irrelevant

              [Meh]
Paul - solid constant support, but no movement
huntsman - not sure why they even include him in the polling

                Stock Watch

                [up]

Romney - Steady, uninspiring candidate who may get the nomination as all the other candidates have a tendency to gore themselves to death at their own hands
Gingrich - has some building momentum - will he make it a race or will this be his rise and fall, ala Perry-Cain?

                [down]
Perry - Well, maybe he hasn't bottomed out and could go lower - right out of the race.
Cain - Has a perry trend
                Bachman - irrelevant

                [Meh]
Paul - solid constant support, but no movement

I always had this fuzzy lump of charcoal floating in my brain that Newt was known for saying stupid things at bad times. Am I confusing him with someone else (no, not Ron Paul who also has the same issue)? Or does he have a track record for making over-the-top and generally stupid comments and stating lots of eyebrow raising opinions? I just can't remember.

Not really. He has pretty well thought out positions and he engineered the contract with America and made it possible to give house control for the first time since 1954. His biggest problem I see with him is he can be very "prideful" and his pride has lead him to make mistakes. He has his warts - infidelity, polarizing figure, wish washy on religion - Southern baptist that converted to Catholicism, ethic violation, etc.

I don't think in the end he really has a chance to win the republican nomination, but it shows that conservative really don't like Romney and they are searching for any other candidate. Obama leads against Gingrich in polls 51 to 40 (compared to Obama leading Romney 46 to 45).

Romney - Steady, and looks like a hint of his trend turning up
Gingrich - has he peaked out and about to Perry/Cain?

                        [down]
Perry - Could never turn it around
                        Cain - Joined Mr. Perry

Gingrich is a genius, and would destroy Obama in a debate. Probably not in an election, however.

Paul/Bachman - Look like some of the gingrich supporter are now moving to Bachman, Paul and Perry.

Pardon? Did you mean to post this in the wildly ungrounded speculation sub-forum? That, or this is some seriously lazy trolling.

Either way, I got a smile out of it.
