    NC Governor recommend suspending Congressional Elections for next couple of year

    “I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover,” Perdue said at a rotary club event in Cary, N.C., according to the Raleigh News & Observer. “I really hope that someone can agree with me on that.”
    They claim she was making a joke, but if you listen to the audio she either won't be making it on to SNL soon or we have another elected dingbat.

    Peter R. Orszag, President Obama’s former budget director, expresses a similar sentiment. In a article for The New Republic, he argues for taking power away from a gridlocked government and giving it to “independent institutions” that will make decisions without undue pressure from politicians or voters.

    When politicians cannot compromise, at least some Americans are willing to look elsewhere — even to a system of “stealth democracy” where decision-making is carried out largely outside of the public’s view and by people that the public did not elect.

    The public does not understand why politicians cannot simply overcome their differences and work toward those goals — a belief evident in recent polls that find the majority of Americans want politicians to compromise instead of sticking to their beliefs.
