Cain – thoughts? Can he win?

I don’t have an answer. Straw polls mean nothing (I don’t care what you read or hear), they mean nothing. I like Cain – even more so as time goes on --- so long as he surrounds himself with foreign policy realists - and he listens –I think he will.

Generally, it seems to me, when it comes to politicians, it is not a good idea to engage in wishful thinking.

I like him too. He has a diverse background and some ideas (9,9,9) that make him interesting.
The bad side is he has said some things that are controversial the media will rip him on once they percieve him to be a viable candidate.

Can they? He has evolved - he might be better able to throw
      stones. I don't know.

I don't know who can win. Certainly not Bachman. Perry most likely not. Romney? Cain?

there is nothing in the national polling that says he is anything more than a fringe candidate. It would take him winning something more than a straw poll to start moving him to viable. Me and my daughter were watching the last debate - lets just say Romney and Perry didn't appeal to her. Her words they are "sketchy".

I've always liked Herman Cain from his time on Neil Boortz's show.

He's right on all the big issues and I'm not blind to see the appeal of a Black Conservative raised in the South running against a man who has used the black community for his own political gain.

The 9/9/9 plan and the Fair Tax is something I fully expect the mainstream media to cast as radical and out of the mainstream, which it is. But at this point, I'm pretty sick of what is considered mainstream: Socialized Medicine, Class Warfare, Endless Gov't spending....

I can't imagine that the first elected office somene will have is a major party nomination for President.

I wanted to go back and listen to Cain's speech before the delegates at the FLA straw poll. After listening, this is why he won the straw poll. Also, he is cribbing from Ryan on entitlement reform. Good on him.

I don't know what to think about Cain - my inclination is give him Tim Terrific's job. But Cain has done a lot with limited resources - he has really impressed me. I know he made some statements that he will continue to take hits for - and he should. But I suspect he would handle the exchange well. Maybe he is the "flavor of the month" - maybe not. It will be interesting to see how he capitalizes on this FLA win - if he does at all. I really don't know what to think about this guy - my brain says unelectable, my heart is starting to say "just as long as he appoints John Bolton Sec. of State we can live with him.
