  • Palmetto Freedom Forum - GOP Debate

    Palmetto Freedom Forum

This was a good debate in an interesting format (I like the format). Too bad Perry couldn't attend.

Oh, and, in my judgment, Newt Gingrich won.

Like Paul, regardless of how well Gingrich does in debates, he is DOA as far as getting elected. Still, it's good to have both candidates in the debates.

I agree both Gingrich and Paul are DOA - but Gingrich won the debate and he should, the format is suited to him. And it is good both are still in the race. But explain Ron Paul's response to Robert George's question about whether he believes Congress should attempt to protect unborn human beings by exercising its power, granted in section five of the Fourteenth Amendment, to guarantee equal protection of the laws to all persons.

P.S. I could pick on Bachmann too - the time limit saved her regarding her last response to George.

        My order of finish
        .
Newt - found him interesting and little more focused

Paul - had good points and if he is right on the central bank corruption, we are probably screwed beyond repair (u.s. economy has become a great ponzi scheme. I have heard financial planners tell me the same that Paul was saying - next summer INFLATION is going to hit hard.

I don't agree with his foreign policy views an didn't really understand his stand on 14th amendment.

Romney - Ducked the 14th amendment question.

        Cain - ho hum

Bachman - rambling civic lesson with injection of talking points constantly

When Perry emerged I went and look at his record and came to a similar conclusion as Ron Paul.

Republican presidential contender Ron Paul, for the second day in a row, criticized Rick Perry’s record as a conservative and cast the Texas governor as a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

In an open letter to the Perry camp, Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton hammers the three-term governor’s record and accuses Mr. Perry of acting like a Democrat during his long political career.

When Perry switched parties he said he would still vote the same principles but with an (R) beside his name.

Supporting Al Gore and the effort toward universal health care under Clinton doesn't make him any more conservative than any current Democrat. That was a far-left position at the time.

He accepted millions of dollars of stimulus money in 2008-09 to do work on the Texas governor's mansion after publicly saying he wouldn't accept federal stimulus money.

Texas' pubic debt doubled under his watch.

And requiring girls to the HPV vaccination, opt-out or not, by executive order is inexcusable, no matter how much he personally hates cancer.

            Perry is not a conservative.

I watched a few excerpts from the debates last night and I kept getting the feeling that Perry and Romney were trying to sell me a car. They just seem sleazy to me.
