Shooter has been identified as 26 year old Devin Patrick Kelley of New Braunfels, Texas. He served in the Air force.

Another terrible, heartbreaking tragedy. Prayers to the families of those affected.

I hope we are witnessing the peak frequency of these types of senseless and indiscriminate attacks, and that one day soon they will begin to recede. I cannot fathom what leads to these evils.

KSAT reports from witnesses state the gunman wore a mask and full gear. The witnesses stated the gunman opened fire outside the church before going in. One of the witnesses reportedly returned fire on the gunman as he left the church. The shots reportedly hit the gunman who then got back into his vehicle and left the scene.

Kelley served in the U.S. Air Force from 2010 to May of 2014, at which point he was court martialed and given a dishonorable discharge.

There are stories starting to circulate that Kelley was Antifa member according to what was on his facebook. Hard to confirm because his facebook profile has been taken down.

Today's mass shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, was only halted after an armed Texan "engaged" the killer and put an end to the rampage, the Texas Rangers reported.

Freeman Martin, a major in the Texas Rangers and a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, says the suspect dropped his rifle and fled after being confronted by a local man who had grabbed his rifle.

"Our local citizen pursued the suspect at that time," Freeman went on. "A short time later as law enforcement responded that suspect right at the Wilson/Guadalupe County line crashed out and was found deceased in his vehicle. At this time we don’t know if it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound or if he was shot by the local resident. We know he’s deceased in the vehicle. "
