Krauthammer Takes on Totenberg and NPR funding

Decouple NPR (which I listen to and support financially) from public funding, and it will survive nationally and in larger market stations, though some rural individual stations might struggle. By decoupling, it no longer is the convenient punching bag as it currently is.
I kind of see PBS a little differently, as it is really the only children's programming on free over-the-air TV of decent quality. But in all likelihood it would get decoupled as well.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

P.S. is it not a "convenient" punching bag - they are what they are and should own up to it.

By convenient I mean it becomes a distraction from the actual issues by becoming an issue unto itself. A lot of the media, regardless of slant, fall under that category IMHO.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

Keep in mind, I listen to NPR and I like much of its programming. By then again I read the Nation too and occasionally Mother Jones. Government funded media, even partially, is no longer necessary or desirable, in my judgment.

Wow - this is a great example of simply not being able to reach any kind of common ground with the opposition.
Nina is a big windbag.
Government should not be paying for any kind of news service. Period.
Nina Tottenberg and Mark Shields don't need to make my news decisions for me.
And wow, is Tottenberg a ding-dong. She just doesn't understand why subsidies for news is nonsensical.

Loved the CarTalk reference.
Nina is a classic liberal. All the stupid backwoods idiots need her enlightenment and it's up to the people to make sure they get it.
In many ways it's fortunate that many of these libs are too ugly to cause the male of the species to remain aroused so as to begin the process of reproduction.
Don't drive like my brother.....Don't drive like MY brother.

I'm sure they pine for the good old days where news was tightly controlled by liberal elites and I'm sure this brave new world frightens them."Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."
