Keep Aviles as leadoff, move Cabrera up to 2nd and insert Moose behind Gordon so Francoeur can offer him at least a little protection.

    Just say NO to Getz!
I'm not a huge Getz fan either, but Yost seems to be. I've thought about Aviles there as well, just wonder. If he's hitting well it'll be more likely, but if Getz is producing at all...

Zawadzki stays hot, has chance of making club
Zawadzki, claimed on waivers from the Padres during the winter, is hitting .353 (12-for-34) with two homers.

He could have a chance to make the 25-man roster if the Royals decide to keep a middle infielder instead of a fifth outfielder.
Eight hurlers competing for five spots on Opening Day roster
Nate Adcock: As a Rule 5 Draft choice, Adcock must be kept on the 25-man roster, placed on the disabled list or offered back to the Pirates. He's never pitched above Class A, but he has showed poise, a good fastball and decent control. He didn't allow a Spring Training run until Wednesday. Adcock could break in as long man. Stats: 2.45 ERA in 11 innings.
Louis Coleman: McClure has been impressed with Coleman so far. Aggressive and confident and a career reliever in the Minors, Coleman throws a fastball and slider with good command. Stats: 2.70 ERA, 11 strikeouts, just one walk in 6 2/3 innings.
Tim Collins: One of two left-handers remaining, this little guy has been flamboyantly impressive. He throws hard with three pitches but needs to use his breaking ball more often against big leaguers. He was dynamite in the Minors last year. Stats: 2.89 ERA, 11 strikeouts, four walks in 9 1/3 innings.
Aaron Crow: A first-round pick in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, he made 29 Minor League starts last year but, as McClure put it: "He's pitched well out of the 'pen the last two Spring Trainings, so maybe for right now it's a little better suited for him." Crow has good velocity and a strong slider. Stats: 2.38 ERA in 11 1/3 innings.
Robert Fish: The other lefty, Fish was a late addition, claimed off waivers from the Yankees. He's throwing more strikes than the Royals expected. A Rule 5 choice, it's possible a deal could be made to keep him from going back to the Angels. Stats: 10.57 ERA including Yankees games.
Jeremy Jeffress: His 100-mph fastballs have lit up radar guns, and his delivery has been altered to minimize his moving parts and improve his command. Part of the Zack Greinke deal, Jeffress might have starting potential, but he's a reliever for now. He gave up four runs in the ninth inning on Thursday. Stats: 7.00 ERA
Luis Mendoza: Barely considered when camp opened, he jumped into the fray with startling results after altering his delivery. "The hitters used to see my sinker side to side, just like it was flat, but now it's going down with movement," he said. Stats: 0.77 ERA, .105 average against.
Kanekoa Texeira: His 2010 rookie season was hampered by a right elbow strain but he's healthy now. McClure's assessment? Throwing strikes with good movement, very poised and confident. He's a versatile performer with good command. Stats: 1.17 ERA.

Since it looks like there might not be no football, I just hope the Royals can keep my interest past June, but im not counting on it.

If you're watching the prospects, that's about the time things could get interesting.

            :good:
Moose should probably be up by then.

Who knows when Hosmer will get a look.

Some of the young pitchers may start getting sprinkled in after the All Star Break.

            September could be interesting.

Royals send Fish back to Angels
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Rule 5 population in the Royals' clubhouse was cut in half Sunday when left-hander Robert Fish was returned to the Los Angeles Angels.

Fish was claimed off waivers from the New York Yankees on March 13. The Yankees had selected Fish in last winter's Rule 5 Draft from the Angels.

He appeared in three games with the Royals and gave up four runs on four hits in three innings. Counting his Spring Training time with the Yankees, his ERA was 10.57 in eight games.
Feliz opts out of contract with Royals
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Third baseman Pedro Feliz, a veteran who signed a Minor League contract with the Royals, asked for and was granted his release Sunday.

Feliz, 35, was signed as infield insurance but had an out in his contract that he could secure his release if he was not placed on the Major League roster.

He was used little during Spring Training as Mike Aviles solidified his job as the regular third baseman and Wilson Betemit emerged as a probable infield backup.
Royals option Cain to get him playing time
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Outfielder Lorenzo Cain was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday so that he could be in the lineup every day.

Cain was competing for a fifth outfield spot with Jarrod Dyson and Gregor Blanco but manager Ned Yost didn't want him parked on the bench for Kansas City.

"I've always found that there's a player every now and then -- Kila [Ka'aihue] was one last year, when I took this job -- that makes me real uncomfortable sitting on my bench because he's a special player. He has the ability to be an everyday player, a young player that needs the at-bats," Yost said.
I like this kid and am ok with this decision. He'll be back.

Royals acquire catcher Treanor from Rangers....?????? What the hell is going on here?

I'm betting the Treanor signing is two-fold:

                  1. Kendall will be out awhile.

                  2. Pena's defense isn't good enough to be a starter for Yost.

Cain has options left, Maier and Blanco are out of options.
