Five for Fighting

I don't claim to be any kind of music aficionado, I like what I like and could care less what anyone else thinks.


My music collection would make most people throw up.


I enjoy this group, and I love Chances that I first heard at the end of "The Blind Side" which quickly jumped into my list of all time favorite movies.


I happened across this article by chance the other day.

I particularly liked this statement from the interview:

“I’m all for people espousing views,” says Ondrasik. “But they shouldn’t just rant. They need to back it up with some kind of argument. On Iraq, it’s so easy to turn on the president. If you want to withdraw, you still need to answer the question: then what? You need to talk about the consequences of Iraq’s turning into a terrorist staging ground, the possibility of needing to go back in with troops again in a few years, millions of Iraqis slaughtered. If you believe all of that is acceptable, then I can respect that. But you can’t just say we need to get out and President Bush is an idiot. I could say that attitude is childish, but it would be an insult to our children.”

Common sense thinking we could use a lot more of these days. His support of the troops is to be applauded. We should all do 1/100th as much for all the brave men and woman that serve so thanklessly.

I really enjoy the music of Five for Fighting as well. I follow John Ondrasik on twitter, and while I do disagree with some of his viewpoints, I find him to be genuine and committed to the things that he cares about. His support of the U.S. troops is matched by few. The fact that he helps produce CD's (this is the fourth year) for service men and women, veterans and family members at no charge is testimony to that fact alone.
