Sparky Anderson Passed Away

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Hall of Fame manager Sparky Anderson has died. He was 76.

Family spokesman Dan Ewald says Anderson died from complications from dementia.

Anderson guided the Cincinnati Reds to World Series championships in 1975 and 1976 and then led the Detroit Tigers to the 1984 title.

Just read that.....impossible to believe he was only 76. He looked 70 when he managed the Reds in 76. I would have guessed he was in his mid 90s....minimum.

Just read that.....impossible to believe he was only 76. He looked 70 when he managed the Reds in 76. I would have guessed he was in his mid 90s....minimum.

So I saw a bunch of video from his days in the 70s managing the Big Red Machine....he looked even OLDER than I remembered. He was in his late 30s or early 40s with some of those teams....my goodness he looked 50-60 then.

RIP Sparky....my all time favorite Red.

He is the first manager I really remember in MLB. Sad.
