  • Tom Petty

He finds his way to Tulsa tonight but not here. Does the IBA get their first big swing and miss on this one (not counting the NCAA mens BB regional)?

Tom Petty is the first big swing? I guess each of us has his or her own value scale.

No offense shoxlax, but given the choice, I'd rather watch paint dry.

To each his own, you damn bunch of Simon Cowells. Anyway, I hear he will draw well tonight in Tulsa and I know several people that are driving down for the concert. ;-)

I'd take one big swing at Tom Petty for recording some songs I can't stand that get played everywhere.

Every time I hear Free Falling brings me one step closer to pulling off my own ears.

          But that's just me.

I enjoy Tom Petty very much and would go if it were in Wichita.

No OKC date either. Does that mean the Ford Center swung and missed?

"If you're going to do it, you're going to do it right," athletic director Jim Schaus said. "If we're going to put 'Wichita State' across our chest, then every team is going to matter."

I saw him at the Sprint Center a few years ago with Steve Winwood. Really good concert.

He played there again a few months ago, only this time with the Drive By Truckers. I would have much rather seen this go 'round, as the DBT's are an awesome band. But alas, schedule conflicts.

At any rate, Tulsa gets a lot of concerts that Wichita doesn't and it's not really due to IBA. It's due to the fact that Wichita is kind of a horrible music town. Terrible radio stations, piss-poor public knowledge of good bands, poor turnout when they do come through, etc. I'm not talking about Tom Petty, but when the newer bleeding edge music doesn't make it, concert promotors treat the town as more of a black hole for even the bigger acts.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

I'm a big fan and would definately have gone. Petty is talented. I guy like that might not have made it these days when you have to be attractive and have little talent to succeed in show business.

He was a huge success in spite of his looks.
