  • Memorial post for a Shocker great

Hopefully most of you have heard by now about our unfortunate loss of Zach Mesch, an amazing student who many of you have supported during his second battle with Leukemia. Zach was very involved in campus, participating in Student Activities Council, Student Government Association and Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He is most notably known for serving as our mascot, WuShock, as many games and appearances in the community.

I believe a number of you donated to his Shocker Strong bracelets at one of the men's basketball games and others traveled to a walk to support him in Denver, Colorado.

Zach's family will be having a service to celebrate his life this Sunday in Colorado. The University is sponsoring a charter bus for all interested in attending. The cost is $20, we will leave around 5 a.m. on Sunday and return around 5 a.m. on Monday. The service starts at 1:30 p.m. and is followed by a Celebration Party hosted by his parents. You must sign up ASAP by contacting the Center for Student Leadership at 316.978.3022. We have many students who could not afford to take this trip otherwise but if we cannot fill the bus we will not be able to provide the service. We also want to show his parents how much we loved Zach and what an impact he had on the Shocker community.

The memorial will also be streamed live at http://www.rocklandcc.org/ if you are unable to attend.

We are working on coordinating an on campus service and will post details as they are determined. All will be welcome to attend.

If you would like to send a card to the Mesch Family, their address is:
    9375 Webster Way
    West Minister, CO 80021

    Thanks
