I don't for one second doubt that Hillman told Cruz to pitch around Cabrera. Why on earth you'd make a pitching change one batter too late, only to not try and get an out and instead letting Detroit set up a righty vs. lefty situation is utter nonsense. Not to mention leaving in Hughes after Damon.

That was not the right time to pull Bannister. Any time your (KC's) starter has enough left to face another batter, you let him. Unless Soria is coming in or you need Parrish to face a lefty.

Bannister's pitch count was only at 93. He should have been left in for at least another batter, and we may still have the lead. Now, his W is gone and the team may be headed for another loss at the hands of the bullpen.
