have they started putting more emphasis on scouting and the minor leagues? they need to spend more on those two areas to make up for not being the new york yankees. and if moore is following what he learned from schuerholz you'll start seeing more and more talented pitchers coming up.
but for now i'll settle on him taking the weak links in atlanta's farm system and putting them in the royals' system.

And KC has been a lot more focused on development and scouting for the minors system. That's why there is some hope as they think a number of possible players are a year or two away and could have some impact. There are a few bats, some good speed, and a number of pitchers.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

The pitching prospects are looking pretty good. Of course, we heard that two years ago with a couple of guys at AA. I think it was it Rosa and another guy. Neither one has been able to progress. It seems like it's more difficult to project minor-league pitchers. In recent memory (or at least, my recent memory), Greinke is the only quality pitcher developed by KC.
They've had a little more success with hitters (Damon, Beltran, Sweeney, DeJesus, Butler) but it may be a few more years before we see any above-average major league hitters (except for possibly Lough) emerge from the minors.
I haven't examined the minors that closely, but if I had to make a prediction, I would say KC is probably three years from getting a good enough group of home-grown products to contend.
I could see a future team built around a staff of Greinke, Crow, Hochevar, Montgomery and Soria. With an offense of Butler, Aviles, Lough, Maier, Moustakas, Bianchi and Hosmer. Hosmer probably has the most work to do to develop into a legitimate prospect. Add a power-hitting outfielder and decent bullpen arms to that and I could see KC challenging for the division.
Ok, I have to settle down. I should know better than to get excited about the future based on minor leaguers.

You get the good draft picks - You develop them into decent players - Then you cant afford to keep them in KC.
Their`s a 20 win difference between first & last place in the AL Central the last few years. All the Royals need to do is cut that gap.

Anybody else think we should get rid of Guillen and call Ka'aihue back up to DH and spell Butler from time to time? Certainly Jose has to go at some point this season.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

That made me laugh ASM.
Looks like Brian Anderson took himself out of the running for the final OF spot as he's decided he wants to try pitching...Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

You're right. I don't follow Royals baseball. What a shocker! I think you totally missed the point of my post and it flew right over your balding brain. :roll:Deuces Valley.
