I stopped going to Thunder games in the 90's because I distain most of the yuck-yucks who always seem to sit around us. The yuck-yucks do not apply to everyone but I want to watch hockey not brawling on ice. The trash that would sit around us couldn't recognize offside from icing and was only there for fights. I would consider tix to Wichita hockey if the affiliation was with USHL or better. AHL is wishful thinking but it would be nice.

      Went to the game.

Like everybody else has stated: the actual game left much to be desired. It was a great atmosphere, suggesting potential, but if the product on the ice doesn't improve (dramatically), it'll be an empty building even in its first year there.

It won't be completely empty because there are plenty of what Shirley likes point out "mouth breathers" wandering around that are Thunder fans :D .

We have a junior league team here in Topeka and I love watching them play. They are 18-21 year olds playing to get a scholarship or a minor league contract when their time in the junior league is over.

fyi, the opening night sellout was due to the 8,000 "giveaways". the thunder office was calling businesses attempting to give tickets away. i'm going to the game tonight on some complimentary tickets... wonder if i'll be able to sit thru all of it.?.

The team only had 1,500 tickets to give away, so that is not true.

Did anyone see the walkup line at the first game?

Long, strong, and down to get the friction on.

I went to the game Wednesday night. I never caught the announced attendance, but it couldn't have been more than 1000.

Put a good product on the ice, and I bet you'd see weekday attendance toward 5000.

Also, I went into Credit Union of America the other day, and they are giving away free tickets to members for the game on Feb. 28. The lady at the desk told me to take as many as I'd like. I could have taken a couple hundred, but only ended taking 10.

I haven't been for years, and likely won't be back until they cut back on the fighting (I don't mind legitimate fisticuffs with a valid reason, but when they're dropping gloves in the face-off before the puck's even dropped...), and my daughters don't have to sit in front of someone screaming "TEAR HIS EFFING FACE OFF!".
Oh, yeah, and they start winning...

Headed down to a game with a group pf friends last Saturday night. We got to the arena a little late and when we arrived at the box office I was dumbfounded when the lady behind the glass said they were sold out of cheap tickets and the lowest price remaining was $17. For those who haven't caught a game they don't even open up the upper deck and the lower bowl wasn't isn't close to sold out. I don't think there was more than 5k there on a Saturday night and they're effin sold out of reasonably priced tickets and they sock it to me for $17. Needless to say no one in my group of 8 will be back anytime soon.
