Did anyone get a nice compact or sub-compact point-and-shoot digital camera for Christmas (or at least recently) that takes nice, clear photos - especially indoors with the built-in flash? Not a lot of features or manual settings are necessary - the primary desire is clear, crisp photos from a small camera.

We're looking for one in the $200-$250 range (up to $300 might be OK). We got a Nikon Coolpix S630 for Christmas and it is a piece of junk. The photos are very grainy or out of focus and the camera has literally hundreds of dead pixels.

    Anyone have any recommendations?

I've had very good luck with Nikon equipment for over 35 years... take it back for an exchange or money back. Also, check out the ratings for the Coolpix S630.

I'm a fan of Canon equipment - if I were buying a point and shoot right now, Canon PowerShot SX120IS would have strong consideration:

I prefer canon over nikon but it sounds like you got a bad camera.
