  • Mike Leach situation

What a strange situation. Personally, after reading the former players e-mails about Adam James, I just think it is a player who didn't like the coach. He went and whined to daddy Craig James who then went and whined to the University. Graham Harrell said in an e-mail about the story said that Adam had negative energy and had a sense of entitlement.

But who am I to judge? I am not one to, but right now the University hasn't released any reason for the firing.

The poor people at the Tech boards are in melt down and rightfully so. The university has no evidence as to the grounds for the firing and until the do I must go by the phrase. Innocent until proven guilty

I agree! Craig James is a horses butt and his son seems like a whiner who didn't get his way. I believe Leach's account and the players and coaches account more than 1 rogue, disgruntled player. Not to mention the clause in his contract that said if he was the Red Raider coach on 12/31/09 he was due an $800K bonus. Hmmmm...do you think the University was looking for a way out of paying this? That program is now a joke.

Craig James has now ruined two Texas Football programs.

I think Tech's Athletic Department just hates Leach in general and the James situation gave them a reason to fire him. A bad one, but better than "we just don't like the guy." I've been a fan of Mike Leach and I hope he picks up a decent job.

Doesnt a concussion matter more than a sense of entitlement and energy???

I don`t know why Leach got fired unless their`s other players out there that have come forward with the same complaints.

This is about like what KU did to Mangino.

This is worse than what KU did to Mangino.

At least with Mangino there was a pattern.

Problem is you dont know if their was a pattern since it was a short period between the allegations and the firing.

Face of it seems that Tech was looking for a reason to get rid of Leach especially after Leach called their bluff and was going to take them to court.

The real question that has to be answered what was really going on with the James kid - right now it is a "he said, she said" situation.

If James was never put in any harm and it is some type of sour grapes then Tech should have to pay big time. If it was something stupid that the coaching staff did - then they are getting what they deserve.

Wow. I haven't paid much attention but did read those e-mails. Here's how I understand it.

Leach's agents beg schools with job openings (Wash, Miami, Auburn) to interview him so they can use it as leverage for a higher salary. Leach tries to claim he's owed a percentage of his contract completion bonus before he's completed it. Then claims loyalty to get his buyout reduced.

Tech officials learn about how the job interviews were obtained (or attempted) from the interviewing schools and put things together.

Tech officials were talking about firing him after this season as early as last February.

Did they set him up or just found a very convenient excuse?

Either way, what a nasty business.
