The reason for the sudden shift is the models were consistent when the energy that formed the low pressure system was off the coast of Washington. That track made for good snow here in Wichita. Now that the energy is on shore the Models have been able to get a better handle on it, and its gone East. Not good for snow lovers. We still might get some snow here in the Metro Area but it wont be very much.
My sources say a trace at best. We'll see...
All depends on how much wrap around snow their is could still get some accum. but T-2 is a good guess.

My formerly broken hand tells me that this isn't going to amount to much. Shirley, you will only need two bags of cheetos.

        *****BREAKING NEWS*******

The models seem to hint at a southern shift in the track... Heavy snow returning to the 'Ta???!!!!?!?!?/!?!?!
        Deuces Valley.
        ... No really, deuces.

model are saying 4-6 inches. If that holds true travel on Thursday will be impossible and maybe even on Friday.

It will be interesting to see if the models stay consistent from run to run. All yesterday they were showing no snow for SC Kansas. Overnight things blew up - hence the BLIZZARD WATCH being issued.

Yes last night at midnight I watched the models shft south and WOW oOKC and the I 35 corridor just BLEW up with snow. It was crazy so yea. I was gonna post on here but its a karma killer so I did not. Way to stay on top of things.

            Travel will be near impossible.

            AS A RESULT...WE WENT AHEAD
AND INTRODUCED THE BLIZZARD WATCH FOR THE REST OF SOUTH CENTRAL
KANSAS. THE MAIN QUESTION WILL BE WHERE THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL BAND
WILL SETUP CAMP. THE GFS/NAM/ECMWF/UKMET IS SUGGESTING THAT A TROWAL
COULD FORM IN PORTIONS OF SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST KANSAS ON
THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND THURSDAY NIGHT. SNOWFALL TOTALS COULD REACH
6-8 INCHES IN THAT AREA. THIS COMBINED WITH WIND SPEEDS OF 30 TO 35
MPH MAY CREATE NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AS WELL. HOWEVER...WE
DECIDED TO JUST GO WITH A WINTER STORM WATCH IN PORTIONS OF
SOUTHEAST KANSAS AT THIS TIME TO MATCH UP BETTER WITH SURROUNDING
            OFFICES.

SB you know you simply put it in 4-low and go!

Their is some skepticism but they are still covering their bases (taken from the Norman WFO):

IT IS IMPORTANT TO POINT OUT THAT THERE IS STILL AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF CHANGE FROM ONE MODEL RUN TO THE NEXT...BUT THAT THE OVERALL TREND SUGGESTS THERE IS THE THREAT OF WINTER STORM CONDITIONS.

I will bet any sum of money that all schools will be shut down Friday.

Valley Center has already closed school down in anticipation of this storm. They are not even going to try and have school again until Jan 4. Go figure.

Winter Storm Warning about to be in affect for The area.....The storm appears to be trending south again which will limit accum in Central Kansas and Enhance it in Eastern Kansas. The models have done a such a piss poor job with this storm, its not even funny.

                                Good Blog Post.
