TUESDAY NIGHT-FRIDAY:
A SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM WILL AFFECT THE PLAINS DURING THIS TIME
FRAME. THE QUESTION IS EXACTLY WHERE AND WHEN THAT WILL BE.

WHILE THERE ARE SOME OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM AMONG THE VARIOUS MODEL
SOLUTIONS FOR THIS PERIOD...THERE ARE SEVERAL CONSISTENCIES TO BE
NOTED. A VERY BIG PICTURE OF THE TREND OF MODEL SOLUTIONS SHOWS THE
SYSTEM GRADUALLY BEING BROUGHT FARTHER SOUTH OVER THE PAST COUPLE
DAYS. THIS WOULD INDICATE SUFFICIENT COLD AIR WILL BE IN PLACE FOR
MOST...IF NOT ALL...OF THIS EVENT TO WARRANT SNOW AS THE
PRECIPITATION TYPE. THE GENERAL INDICATION IS FOR THE GREATEST
IMPACT TO BE FROM TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. ALL THIS
BEING SAID...THE 19/00Z RUN OF THE ECMWF SHOWS THE SYSTEM TO DIG
MUCH DEEPER INTO THE DESERT SOUTHWEST AND THEREFORE BRINGS MUCH
WARMER AIR INTO SOUTH CENTRAL/SOUTHEAST KANSAS ON WEDNESDAY. WITH
THIS SOLUTION...THE GREATEST IMPACT WOULD BE MORE LIKELY ON
CHRISTMAS EVE. WITH ALL THINGS CONSIDERED...THE 19/00Z GFS-TYPE
SOLUTION SEEMS MOST APPROPRIATE AND IS THE BASIS FOR THE FORECAST
DURING THIS PERIOD. THEREFORE WE HAVE LOWERED HIGH TEMPERATURES ON
WEDNESDAY AND INCREASED PRECIPITATION CHANCES AS WELL.

WITH THE 19/00Z GFS-TYPE SOLUTION BEING THE OVERALL SCENARIO OF
CHOICE...SNOW WILL QUICKLY END ON THURSDAY. FIRST STAB AT SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS WOULD BE A FAIRLY HIGH CONFIDENCE IN A SWATH OF 4 TO 8
INCHES OF SNOW SOMEWHERE ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA...WITH BOTH LOWER
AND HIGHER ACCUMULATIONS POSSIBLE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE AREA.
WITH THIS BEING A VERY BUSY TRAVEL PERIOD...IT IS WISE TO KEEP A
CLOSE EYE ON THE EVER-REFINING FORECASTS DURING THIS TIME.

Yes I know wording with forecasts is some of the most important things taht go into a forecast. The track of the storm is still up in the air.

Interestingly, at least the Wichita WFO thinks the setup is going to be simliar to the last storm.

It is......All snow in central Kansas about 8 inches of Accum there and all rain then changing to snow for Wichita.... :(
