  • Snow Flakes on the Way??

Good Chance Wichita sees its first flakes of this 'winter" Sunday or Monday....the timing needs to be nailed out. The models have been pretty consistent so far so we will see how this one pans out. It will be nothing big but at least for all those snow lovers we will see our first flakes...Whats even BETTER...It might snow on the first day of HS Basketball Practice, what great weather to begin the first practice with!
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

Anything more than 3 or 4 days out is pure speculation. Hell it's hard to even nail snow totals a couple hours before an event. I wouldn't say there is any "definitive" chance of seeing snow at the moment.

Also, it looks like the activity on ShockerNet has picked up a bit, eh 1? :good:
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

Yeah, 1. In other weather news, hows the sky? Still falling?

      ;)
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

My son's last football game is on Sunday evening. Hope the snow holds off until after that!

Snow is impossible to tell...with non winter storms you can pretty much nail down where most of the rain is going to fall 4-5 days in advance. With winter storms the models get SO messed up. Right now the best chance of snow seems to be west of I-35 then on monday East of the turnpike. Still up in the air.

Let me just say again that it will be just a few flurry's.

Are you kidding me? The freezing line is the hardest to predict... and 4-5 days out to boot..

I barely qualify snow as "flurries". :good:

I dislike winter, I like spring, summer and fall. I want more global warming. I am eating a lot of beans to help release more methane in the air to aid in the process.

When I was a little kid back in the early 70's Wichita had its largest snowfall I can remember (something like 16 inches). My parents told me the forecast for that night was partly cloudy.

NWS is pondering putting up a Winter Storm Watch for The I-135 I-35 corridor. Snow models are AS OF NOW projecting a foot of snow for that area. Wichita will probably see some snow.

I'll believe it when I see it. The weathermen live for these storms and get people worked up, hurrying to the grocery store for what amounts to be wet roads.

We'll see, though. They have been right before....occasionally. :)

My thoughts exactly. A year or two ago they got so worked up about a possible storm that schools closed in anticipation of it and nothing happened. It turned out to be a rather nice day.

Yes, forecasting is so hard..People give meteoroligsts such bad names but really all the model data can point towards one storm...then BOOOM....change the next day.
