Sorry if that hurts, but it's the truth.
ShockCity I am afraid you are going to be labeled a bad fan with talk like that around here.

All it takes is someone to walk into Dr. Beggs office with a big enough check and he would be on board.

When are the big time boosters on ShockerNet going to step up to the plate and put up their money?

It would be chump change to someone like RDR or Pogo?

    Where is the check?
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

I don't want someone to come in and replace Dr. Beggs and "Voila, Football!!", though many a fan would be happy.

I'm saying if football isn't feasible right now, fine. I CAN accept the notion that Wichita's economy isn't looking good, and many things need to be done before a program could get re-started.

What I WANT is for Dr. Beggs to come out and say, "OK, Mr. and Mrs. Pocketbooks, you come up with the $xxx, xxx needed to complete a full study of what it would cost facility wise, additional sports wise, and other cost wise, plus weigh the benefits of having football back on campus, and lets see what the numbers say."

IF the numbers say "Wichita can't support a FCS Football program," then Ladies and Gents we let it die.

IF I have missed something in the past 15 years that did this, then someone please point it out to me.

If you bring football in, how do you propose to fulfill the Title IX requirements?

The same way Mo State, S. Ill., Indiana State, Ill. State, and many more do. As stated by many here, it will take leadership. That is what we lack at WSU. Until someone does this, football will still be a thing of the past, and that my friend is a sad, sad thing for the city of Wichita!

            SG:

If you read the following excerpt from my post you will see the Title IX included in the study.

I am a BIG fan of bringing back football, but not at cost of hurting other sports and the university. That line, IMHO, represents about how about 80% of ShockerNation feels.

I want someone to come out and say, OK, we'll do the study. Get someone independent who knows what they are talking about and doesn't have a horse in the race, and see what they say it will take, and whether they think it is feasible.

If they rule it is feasible, that doesn't yet mean bring it back. Then it comes to "Ok, they said we needed $XX,XXX,XXX dollars and XXX and XXX. If we can get pledges to cover 70% of the money and have the ability to do the rest, then we will put it on the table.

Then if the money is raised and the facilities for football and other new sports that will be required can be done, then the next step of actually putting together a plan.

If it is not feasible, then Shocker Fans will know based on fact and not Dr. Beggs or anyone else's OPINION of what can and can't be done, as well as what can and can't be afforded.

If people think 1-AA (sorry..FCS) can not be big-time....they obviously didn't watch the Montana/App State game. Wow...a great game and great atmosphere.

Well of course it was a great game and atmosphere, the championship is winding down for these programs. This was a playoff game.

The problem lies with the support and attendance leading up to post season play. Can WSU expect high enough attendance and backing during the regular season to support the program?

How many folks would show up to see WSU play Savannah State for example.

I can live with I-AA if a plan is in place to move up within 5 or 10 years.
