There should be plenty of tickets available because no one will want to go to the IBA 'cause there is no parking. That reminds me those idiots in KC have that new Sprint Center and only one parking garage across the street. I'm never going again. I had to park 3 blocks away.
3 BLOCKS??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????!!
Oh the humanity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, do you some of you not get it? Have any of you ever been to a city outside of Wichita?
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Haha I was thinking the same thing. 3 blocks isn't that far, but I thought I would at least offer some advice!
I walk the equivalent of three downtown blocks for every game at WSU, as I park in the CC lot all the way south in the main western parking lot. Out at the coliseum, a walk from the further reaches of the parking lot is a pretty good hoof. And trust me, I can use the walking...

So let me get this straight. Approx. 100k people vote in favor of building an arena and they only get 2500 tickets to vie for?
And you criticize people who don't want to foot the bill for that kind of crap.
I've not seen Taylor Swift or knowingly heard one minute of her music. But if they are going to hold concerts at a public venue, there better be a lot more than 25% of the tickets available to the general public.
Just because somebody has an Amex card doesn't mean they aren't the "general public". Or if they were part of the fan club...I think they had the opportunity to buy first, too. I could care less about Taylor Swift, but I've been able to pre-buy tickets to other events because of Mastercard or signing up on a website to get info.
If it's a private arena (like Hartman) then make exclusive deals to your heart's content.
IBA is public funded and everyone should have the same opportunity for tickets without being coerced by a credit card company (or anything else) to get privilege over others who paid equally to have that venue available for such events.
The arena doesn't make that decision...the concert promoters handle it. If the arena just booked concerts where tickets were sold 100% at the ticket office...it wouldn't survive very long.
I guess I just don't see why it's such a big deal. Life's not fair sometimes.

I guess I'll have to use the emoticon ;-) ;-) ;-) when I'm pulling someones leg. Seriously it was an easy walk and only cost $5 from the Sprint Center.

Although I think it's retarded, now that I think about it, it happens everywhere. Pre-sales. If you're member of the Taylor fan club, you get first dibs, etc, etc.
It's not fair, but that's how it is everywhere.
I was really surprised though that only 2500 remained to the general public. That seemed really low. I guess the moral of the story is.. sign up to an artist's fan club if there's a concert coming to your area.

You are so right it isn't even funny. No wonder we are the fattest country in the world.

Exactly correct. Taylor Swift has a right to make as much money as she possibly can and SMG has a duty to sell as many tickets as they possible can for as much as they possibly can. Tickets are priced and marketed in such a way as to extract the maximum profit possible out of Taylor Swift coming to Wichita.
Now, if we were talking about a 100,000 seat outdoor venue and tickets/seats were withheld to artificially inflate ticket prices, then that's another thing. But why would they do that? The marginal cost of putting one more chair out is nearly nothing once the entertainer is in town.
Every available seat at IBA is or will be sold to a live human being before Taylor Swift ever warbles one tone. There is no waste and everybody who wants to go will have a chance to go if they will only pay the price.

It's pretty common anymore to sell pre-sale tickets to people who are in the artist's fan-club, used a special credit card, paid attention and saw you had a few-hour early-bird window a few days in advance, etc.
I've bought some good concert tickets over the last few years (Tom Petty, Arcade Fire/LCD Soundsystem, Ryan Adams, etc.) by doing such, and it didn't take any more than a few minutes and some basic internet research to find it.
From an artist's perspective, it helps insure that the more dedicated fans who might want to make a few more compromises or spend a little time are the ones who get first choice in seating.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.
I'm thinking that Sedgwick co residents should be able to access tickets for say 24 hours before anyone else would be able to buy. I'm sure there would be additional problems with such a system but I'm also sure these problems could be solved.
