CAVE people are impossible to argue with because they are as ignorant as pie.

How do you equate not wanting to pay for other people's entertainment with ignorance?

It's ignorance on a multitude of levels:

1.) First and foremost, the vote was over 5 years ago in 2004. The CAVEateers lost. The vote was not gonna change then. It's not gonna change now. The arena has been built and the constant crying and whining about something that's not gonna go away is hilarity at its finest.

2.) There are about a million things we pay for as a taxpayers that involves others and not ourselves (i.e. welfare, public education, etc.). This issue actually went to vote and was accepted. In our country, the majority rules. People need to understand this concept.

3.) CAVEateers are steadfast in their false reality of what the arena is about and what it's gonna be like it. Most CAVEateers have probably never left the city of Wichita so one can attribute to ignorance on why they are complaining about $5 parking fees and walking more than 5 feet.

4.) CAVEateers want to see the arena fail. Ironically, they are basically saying they want something that they've already paid for to fail. That's called ignorance.

I could go to even greater detail if you want me to. Just ask.

          1) The didn't like it then, they don't like it now. That isn't ignorance. It's personality and temperament.

          2) Understanding a concept isn't the same as agreeing with it. It's called a different viewpoint, not ignorance.

          3) That is disagreement, not ignorance. So they don't want to pay $10 to park. That doesn't mean they don't get out of Wichita. It means they have a lower threshold for spending than you.

          4) If they don't intend on using it then why care whether it succeeds or fails? That's not ignorance.

You're just throwing the word out as a petty insult because "CAVEateers" must not be insulting enough for you. You also fail to understand their point of view, so the easiest course of action for you is to lob insults.

The main ignorance I saw in the whole thing lies in the fact that, whether you liked it or not, your tax dollars were going to go to an arena. Either an increase to the mill levy and property taxes to pay for renovations at the Coliseum or a sales tax increase to pay for a brand new building downtown. Despite this fact, many on the no side continued to argue that tax money shouldn't go to an arena project. The ignorance lies in not realizing that either way your tax dollars were going towards an arena. The real question on the ballot was, do you want your money going towards refurbishing the Coliseum or to a downtown arena.

1.) Not liking it then, not liking it now, not liking it 20 years from now is not gonna change the fact that the arena is here and here to stay. Ok, maybe it's not ignorance, but it's pettiness and stupidness.

2.) Oh but it is ignorant to think that we pay for everything we use (at least in terms of taxes.) That's simply not true. It's ignorant to think that a 5-year old vote that didn't favor somebody is gonna magically just turn around.

3.) Nope. I don't like paying $5 or $10 to park. It's a bit annoying and a bit of an inconvenience. But to act like this is only a "Wichita" problem, is where the ignorance comes in. The fact is it is STANDARD to pay and park when going to events, especially in a downtown area. People act shocked and mortified that they might have to float over a Lincoln to park their vehicle for an event. If they ever left the city of Wichita, they would understand this. Say Royal. How much do you chuck up to park at a Royals game? Again, simple ignorance.

4.) Well, if they paid for it, maybe they should care. Unless they're ignorant enough to pay a decent amount of money or something and then hope it fails so that their money was essentially wasted. Sounds stupid doesn't it? Again, another case of the "i" word. That is a good point though. Why do all the CAVEateers care about parking? Their fat lazy asses aren't gonna go to the events anyways, right?

Maybe it is more stupidity than ignorance. Whatever. But whatever it is, you have to have a low competence level to be against anything forward in your native city.

How is CAVEateers an insult? Citizens Against Virtually Everything is exactly what these people are. I love how people would take offense to this. I'm calling people exactly what they are. You must feel deep down inside that being against anything is bad, otherwise you wouldn't have felt insulted by an acronym that pins your feelings down to a tee.

I guess I do fail to see an ignorant person's POV. I guess I'm just not like that.

Shock City is right and the ironic thing about the Coliseum is that the Park City people and others (some who owned property in the Park City area and didn't even live in Sedgwick Co.) who feared that their property values would go down, have been (at least in the past), critics of IBA and very angry about it. The issue was do the majority of Sedgwick Co. citizens want to support Park City with our tax money or do we want to support Wichita which is the hub of the county economy.

I just want to know how Hartman earned all of his wealth. Yes, I know he's originally an oil guy. That's not what I'm getting at.

Everything he seems to carry out through any PR avenue seems like a train wreck, and his redonkulous plans and claims just don't make him come off as all that sharp. He's like Bill Warren, minus 50% of the IQ points.

Oh well, I guess even a blind squirrel finds some nuts occasionally. Although, I'm curious whether his familial background gave him a bit of a nut to build on in the first place? I'm guessing a resounding "yes".

It costs $22 to park at a Chiefs game. To me, $5 or $10 for parking is pretty inexpensive if you want to see a good game or concert.

I think he is a trust fund baby, it is given to him on a time line so he can't squander the whole thing at once.

Kind of like the Hesse and O'Shannesy families did.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

                          Forget Royals and Chiefs games.

How much do people pay to park at a Shocker basketball game?

And, if you don't pay, how far do you walk?

I'd bet that the average person walks further to go to a Shocker game than they'll have to walk to go to an IBE event, especially if they're too tight to pay a few bucks to park.

Always been my guess as well.

It's as if he lives his professional life like it's one big hobby with no real direction or point. Self-made people don't seem to do that. Trustafarians do.

I stopped paying the fee to park at the cemetery. Now I just get there early enough to park behind the library. Yeah i have to rush after work and all but its worth it. THe parking in the cemetery was nice to it being fairly easy to get in and out.
