  • Buhler's Jorden Oden

I have to give a shout-out to our high school running back. Friday night he had 291 yds rushing and a school-record 6 TDs, all in the first half against Augusta.

In three games he has about 820 yards and, I think, 14 TDs.

That said, he's running behind an impressive offensive line that averages 230 lbs, which is pretty good for a 4A school. No doubt that they are a huge part of his success.

As a Buhler alum and lifelong resident it's nice to see we finally have size, speed and skill. Even during periods of having a good FB team we were small. I remember them making the 5A state championship game back in '90 against Pittsburg and we were woefully undersized.

Kid is a stud. Not looking forward to when they play my team, El Dorado, on friday.

Our first string offense has not yet been forced to punt. So far, our special teams have been mediocre, at best. When we come up against a good defense, that concerns me. Field position becomes so much more important in a close game.

As for El Dorado, it looks like their offense is having a difficult time putting up points. I would expect Buhler to get at nor near 50. If those points come early and our reserves go in, El Dorado should get a couple of TDs. Augusta's starters had no problem moving the ball against or stopping our reserves.

That's why I say 40 and not 60. I don't pay much attention to HS football but El Dorado has been far from a power. It's been a few years, but that was one game we always felt capable of winning. And we all know Circle and football don't really go together...

At least El Dorado can beat Circle and Augusta!! Our defense is not half bad at all and our run game has been around 200 yards a game. Carries are distributed through 3-4 guys. Scoring however is a problem. Now in Cross Country.....we'll talk lol.

Our coach has a weekly radio show and said that El Dorado runs a triple-option offense. Buhler also runs the option. This should make the O-lines that much more important since both defenses are used to seeing the option in practice.

Yes our offense is a lot of option. We run a lot of option pitches and a lot of motion in the offense. I am a cross country runner so I am not too knowledgable about football.

GAH!!!! Buhler beats El Dorado 57-0... What is worse is that the game was called at half-time due to torrential downpours.

Yea, Oden had at least 4 or 5 touchdowns. Anyways, there was a skirmish/fight during the game so it was a downer.

The Eagle said Oden had 2 TDs on 186 yards. Also said Buhler scored 8 TDs on 23 offensive plays.

I'm disappointed to hear there was a skirmish. I hope ours wasn't one of the instigators. With football, it is hard to tell anyway.

Yea, well It was hard to tell. It was on a kickoff and either one of our players blocked a Buhler Player to the ground after the play was blown dead or it was the other way around. The game was way out of reach on our end so I wasn't playing too much attention on whose kickoff it was. From then it was a bunch of other players pushing and shoving and some heated words. I am sure both teams are dissapointed and the coaches will deal with them appropriatly.
